As an Environmental Technician, you will join our Calgary/Edmonton/Fort McMurray, Alberta office(s) as part of our Western Ecological Services team. The successful applicant will be involved in a broad range of projects with responsibilities as follows:
Assisting with various tasks, including but not limited to field preparation, safety documentation, field work, and data management.
Working cooperatively with technical, health and safety, GIS, and administrative colleagues to successfully deliver our products.
Conducting standardized vegetation/weed identification
Assisting Project Managers and administrative staff with various tasks as they arise.
Other responsibilities may include but are not limited to: data management including data collection, entry, and review; contributing to field reports; preparing and submitting ground disturbance requests; hazard assessments; and sample processing and delivery.
Travel as required to support field programs
What We Are Looking For
Working towards a Degree or Diploma in Environmental Science or a related field from a recognized post-secondary institute.
An absolute, and genuine dedication to safe work.
Ability to be productive while working independently as well as in a team setting.
Physical capacity for strenuous fieldwork, including augering deep inspection sites and walking several kilometres through rough terrain.
Results-oriented and efficient, with excellent problem-solving skills.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with an affinity for working respectfully with colleagues and clients at all levels.
Proficient with computers and software, especially Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook (at least an intermediate level of proficiency).
Comfortable using advanced GPS units or tablets.
Has energy and desire to support others and respond to the changing needs of a dynamic environment
Valid Class 5 Driver’s License, with clean drivers abstract, able to travel throughout the provinces and work weekends when necessary.

This is a permanent position with an hourly rate range of $25.00-$32.00, starting pay is dependent on multiple factors, such as skills, experience and work location.
