About the role
Biosis are looking for a Senior Environmental Planner to join our team located in Alexandria, where you will have the chance to contribute your expertise to a variety of engaging projects.
As a key member of our team, you will have experience with managing environmental approvals and be capable of providing sound planning advice and guidance to our clients.
Your responsibilities will include participating in, conducting, and managing complex projects, and the production of technical reports. Additional duties will include proposal writing, business development and establishing a profile in the professional community.
Working closely with our multi-disciplinary team of professionals, you will become an integral member of Biosis’ Environmental Approvals team, a key contributor to existing and future projects throughout Victoria, and a driver for the development of our environmental approval capabilities in the region.
Key Responsibilities:
• Project Management: Effective project management and provision of support to other projects as required. Projects completed to time, budget and quality standards
• Technical Expertise and Regulatory Awareness: Expert and current knowledge, understanding and application of all relevant Legislation, policies, procedures and guidelines as they relate to ecology, heritage, APEM and our clients. Prepare concise and clear advice and recommendations on statutory matters to adequately meet Client request
• Sales and Client Relationship Management: Effective internal and external relationship development for the purposes of developing new and existing sales opportunities to achieve revenue targets
• Coaching: Provide ongoing professional coaching and support to junior team mates on their employment journey. Focusing on uplifting their skills and capabilities as Planning Professionals and a Consultant within the APEM environment
• Operational Components: Ensuring adherence to internal requirements and timeframes for administrative duties such as time sheeting, WHS, training and induction requirements, internal processes and procedures and QA
You will have the following skills/knowledge/experience:
• Tertiary qualifications in planning or environment
• A minimum of 3 years’ experience in either consulting or the public sector
• Knowledge of Commonwealth and State legislation with regards to planning, environmental and heritage approvals
• A thorough understanding of the Planning and Environment Act 1979, the New South Wales Planning Provisions, and the planning approvals process
• Experience with Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (EPBC Act) and Environment Effects Act 1978 (EE Act) referrals and approval management
