WKC are looking for an Environmental Scientist / EIA / Ecologist with experience of assisting with field surveys and with strong technical written skills as well as basic understanding of statistics. Strong field ecology survey skills in terrestrial ecosystems is highly desirable. Furthermore, experience in undertaking ecological impact assessments is preferable.
The job will involve undertaking desk studies on terrestrial and/or marine ecology and field surveys, as well as assisting with ecological impact assessment studies and providing mitigation for protected flora and fauna for a variety of proposed development projects in the KSA . In addition, the job will involve undertaking report writing duties and assisting in general office tasks including maintenance and monitoring survey equipment and proposal writing.
Th chosen candidate should have at least three years experience of working in KSA and undertaking ecological assessments.
As an ecologist, your main responsibilities are likely to include:
- Integrate with WKC’s ecology team conducting field surveys.
- Data and sample analysis, and species distribution pattern.
- Look to manage field survey teams.
- Assisting with habitat surveys with the ability to identify different habitat types and associated flora and fauna in the field.
- Undertaking report writing duties and assist in maintaining and monitoring ecological survey equipment.
- Have a good understanding of wildlife legislation and policy in the Arabian Peninsula, and then able to communicate this clearly to colleagues, clients, and contractors.
- Keep accurate field notes as well as handling, recording, and storing data effectively.
