GZA GeoEnvironmental, Inc. (GZA) is currently seeking an Entry Level Environmental Engineer/Scientist in our Livonia, MI office. The successful candidate must have a solid educational background and be self-motivated with a professional attitude. They will join our team of engineers/scientists that work on a variety of projects including site investigation, evaluation of remedial alternatives, design, and implementation of remedial systems and remediation system operation and maintenance. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of project managers and/or principals.
Between field work projects, you will work in a professional office setting, preparing field documentation, data analysis and reporting.
Key Duties:
- Perform outdoor, all-season field tasks such as drilling oversight, soil / groundwater sampling, soil vapor sampling, soil and groundwater remediation implementation, remediation system operation and maintenance, construction oversight, monitoring, etc.
- Work on all phases of projects (due diligence, site investigation, data evaluation, system design, engineering analysis, remedial system construction oversight, remediation system operation and maintenance).
- Monitoring and documenting various aspects of investigation/remediation projects.
- Conducting technical analyses/calculations.
- Analyzing and interpreting various site-specific data.
- Writing drafts of field and engineering reports.
- GZA emphasizes a One Company environment, and as a member of our team, you may be asked to assist on projects and tasks outside of your primary responsibilities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Geological Engineering, Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field required (Master’s Degree preferred).
- Relevant work experience in the fields of site investigation, remediation, is preferred.
- Strong problem-solving ability, communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to perform field tasks and activities.
- Ability to travel locally and regionally. Candidates must have a valid driver’s license in good standing and a reliable vehicle.
- Strong Microsoft Office, AutoCAD and/or ArcGIS skills preferred.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations is a plus.
- 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification and EIT a plus.
