Job Description

The Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Specialist is an entry-level professional role responsible for supporting the implementation and maintenance of health, safety, and environmental compliance programs at the Garden Grove facility. The EHS Specialist collaborates with the EHS Manager to ensure the company adheres to regulatory requirements and fosters a culture of safety and environmental responsibility.

Key Responsibilities

Safety Program Management

  • Assist in developing and implementing safety programs, compliance plans, and safety initiatives.
  • Investigate incidents, near misses, and property damage to identify root causes and recommend corrective actions.
  • Participate in the Emergency Response Team, responding to plant emergencies and coordinating evacuations as needed.

Regulatory Compliance

  • Ensure facility compliance with OSHA, CAL/OSHA, EPA, AQMD, ADA, and fire code requirements.
  • Conduct compliance monitoring, including stormwater and wastewater sampling.
  • Maintain accurate records and reporting for regulatory submissions and audits.

Administrative Support

  • Provide administrative support to the EHS Manager, including report preparation, data tracking, and maintaining statistical information.
  • Maintain and update Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and coordinate approval of new materials with the EHS Manager.

Training and Communication

  • Develop and deliver visual aids, presentations, and training materials for safety programs.
  • Create flyers and educational content to promote environmental and safety awareness.
  • Communicate EHS policies and procedures effectively to employees and contractors.

Environmental Initiatives

  • Conduct environmental audits and ensure compliance with permits and government regulations.
  • Manage hazardous waste disposal and track compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Monitor environmental performance, including stormwater adherence and industrial hygiene compliance.

Continuous Improvement

  • Support the development of innovative solutions to improve safety and environmental processes.
  • Build relationships across teams to encourage a culture of safety and accountability.
  • Contribute to special projects as assigned by the EHS Manager.


Requirements

Education

  • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Safety Science, Industrial Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Equivalent work experience combined with specialized training will also be considered.

Certifications

  • Preferred: HAZWOPER, First Responder, or First Aid certifications.
  • Willingness to obtain relevant certifications as required.

Experience

  • Entry-level position; no extensive prior experience is required.
  • Preferred:
    • Familiarity with safety programs, compliance plans, or related EHS initiatives.
    • Internship or training in EHS or industrial settings.

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to learn and use additional software and tools as needed.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements, such as OSHA, CAL/OSHA, EPA, and AQMD, is a plus.

Soft Skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Effective problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to climb stairs or ladders and work at various heights.

Compensation

  • Base Pay: $70,600 to $88,200 annually, dependent on experience and qualifications.
  • Quarterly Cash Bonus Plan: Eligible for bonuses paid at 2X the Company’s bonus multiple based on company performance.
