Position Summary
The Solar Electrical Lead is responsible for overseeing the electrical installation of solar Photovoltaic (PV) systems. This position requires expertise in electrical systems, leadership skills, and a commitment to safety and quality. The Solar Electrical Lead works closely with the Solar Foreman and project managers to ensure efficient, compliant, and timely completion of electrical work. This is a traveling position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Electrical Installation Oversight:
- Lead the installation of solar PV electrical systems, including wiring, inverters, and grounding.
- Interpret and execute electrical plans and schematics accurately.
- Ensure compliance with NEC codes, local regulations, and project specifications.
- Team Leadership:
- Supervise and mentor electricians and apprentices.
- Assign tasks and monitor progress to meet deadlines.
- Conduct quality checks to ensure high standards are met.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Enforce adherence to electrical safety standards and PPE usage.
- Identify and mitigate electrical hazards during the installation process.
- Troubleshooting and Maintenance:
- Diagnose and resolve issues with PV system performance.
- Perform system testing and commissioning to ensure functionality.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
Education and Experience
- 3+ years of experience in solar PV or related electrical work.
- Supervisory experience (preferred).
Technical Skills
- Advanced knowledge of electrical systems, NEC codes, and PV technology.
- Proficiency with electrical testing tools and equipment.
Certifications
- NABCEP PV Installer Certification (preferred)..
- Journeyman License (preferred).
- OSHA 10 Certification (required or willing to obtain).
Physical Requirements
* Ability to work at heights, in various weather conditions and lift up to 50 lbs.
* Comfortable working on ladders, scaffolding and rooftops.
Other requirements
* Valid driver's license.
* Willingness to travel out of state 50% or more of the year.
