Job Description
Renewance, Inc. is seeking an experienced Site Manager to oversee the construction, commissioning, and decommissioning of a variety of battery energy storage systems. This role requires a strong technical background in energy storage, project management expertise, and the ability to coordinate across multiple teams to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
The Site Manager will serve as the primary point of contact between project stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and internal Renewance teams. They will lead site activities, manage schedules, and ensure seamless communication among engineering, field services, and compliance teams to drive project success.
The base salary range for this role is $90,000 to $125,000 annually, based on national averages from publicly available sources. This position also includes annual bonus and full benefits listed below.
Key Responsibilities:
- Site Oversight & Compliance:
- Conduct regular site inspections to ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards specific to energy storage systems, including battery installations and electrical systems.
- Ensure that all installations align with the design and specifications for the battery storage systems, including power management, control systems, and electrical integration.
- Monitor adherence to regulatory safety standards for high-voltage and battery systems, ensuring all team members and subcontractors follow appropriate protocols.
- Team Supervision & Workforce Management:
- Supervise and provide guidance to Renewance Service Technicians, subcontractors, and vendors on-site, ensuring all tasks are completed safely, on time, and in compliance with project specifications.
- Allocate resources effectively to ensure that work is completed as per project requirements and milestones.
- Oversee the installation, testing, and commissioning of energy storage systems, including battery modules, inverters, and associated electrical equipment, ensuring adherence to technical requirements and safety standards.
- Communication & Reporting:
- Maintain clear and effective communication with clients, subcontractors, project managers and site teams to ensure smooth project execution.
- Provide regular progress updates, including reports on costs, scheduling, risks, and any scope changes to client stakeholders and Renewance leaders.
- Interpret and explain project plans, technical specifications, and contract terms to stakeholders, Service Technicians, and contractors.
- Quality Control & Safety Management:
- Ensure all safety protocols are followed and that the project site complies with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations, particularly in relation to high-voltage systems and battery technology.
- Implement and monitor quality control processes to ensure that the final installation and decommissioning meet or exceed technical specifications, client expectations, and regulatory requirements.
- Project Scheduling & Coordination:
- Manage detailed project schedules for energy storage system installations, commissioning, and decommissioning, including task sequencing, resource allocation, and critical milestones.
- Monitor project progress against the schedule and proactively address potential delays to maintain project timelines.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders to plan, organize, and direct all project activities.
- Commissioning & Decommissioning:
- Oversee the commissioning process of energy storage systems, ensuring that all equipment, control systems, and electrical connections are thoroughly tested, integrated, and operating as designed before the system goes live.
- Coordinate the decommissioning of older or outdated systems, ensuring that the process is carried out safely, in compliance with regulations, and with minimal environmental impact.
- Collaborate with engineers and other stakeholders to address any issues identified during commissioning and ensure proper system handover to the client.
- Ensure that decommissioning activities follow all relevant environmental and safety protocols, including the disposal or recycling of battery materials and related components.
- Material Procurement & Budgeting:
- Oversee the procurement of materials, including battery storage modules, inverters, control systems, and other components, ensuring timely delivery and compliance with project specifications.
- Develop and track project budgets, ensuring that the project remains within financial constraints while meeting all milestones.
- Manage the preparation of bid specifications, subcontractor selection, and performance evaluations of contractors and vendors involved in the energy storage project.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Energy Engineering, or a related field is preferred. Relevant field experience in energy storage systems is acceptable
- Minimum of 10+ years of experience in site management, Foremanship or project management, ideally within the energy storage or renewable energy industry (battery storage systems, grid energy storage, etc.).
- Strong understanding of Environmental, Health, and Safety practices and worksite safety practices.
- Experience with the installation, commissioning, and decommissioning of energy storage systems, including batteries of various chemical makeup, power electronics, and inverter systems.
- Proficient in reviewing technical drawings, electrical diagrams, and system specifications specific to energy storage solutions.
- Ability to communicate effectively with clients, contractors, vendors, and internal teams to ensure alignment and successful project completion.
- Strong organizational, time management, and multitasking abilities with a demonstrated ability to meet critical deadlines.
- In-depth knowledge of safety regulations, environmental compliance, and quality control specific to energy storage projects.
- Leadership skills and the ability to manage and motivate diverse teams on-site.
Travel & Location
Preferred locations are Houston, TX, Southern California, or New York, though other locations will be considered. Requires 75% or more travel to customer sites.
