Position Summary:
Are you naturally curious? Do you like digging into complex questions and finding clear answers? If so, you might be a great fit for our Market Development team!
As a Market Development Specialist, you'll help drive growth by researching new utility companies, markets, and project opportunities where we have little or no presence. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys working independently but also values team collaboration. You’ll need strong reading comprehension, problem-solving skills, and great attention to detail—plus a tenacious attitude when it comes to tracking down information.
If you're looking for a high-visibility, impactful role where your research directly shapes business decisions, we’d love to have you on board!
Essential Duties:
- Read and break down utility tariffs, regulations, and policies to understand how they affect solar projects.
- Research new utility companies, markets, and rule changes to help the team identify growth opportunities.
- Review solar projects to make sure they meet local utility requirements and flag any potential issues.
- Work with different teams to share market insights and recommend the best next steps.
- Keep track of research findings, utility details, and important updates to help guide business decisions.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Strong reading comprehension—you're comfortable working through technical documents and pulling out key info.
- High attention to detail—you catch the small things that others might miss.
- Problem-solver—you like figuring things out and aren't afraid to dig deep to get answers.
- Self-motivated—you work well independently but also enjoy being part of a team.
- Comfortable with spreadsheets and online research—you know your way around Excel/Google Sheets and can organize information effectively.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with legal, policy, or regulatory work is a plus.
- Knowledge of the solar, energy, or utility industry is helpful but not required.
- Familiarity with utility rules and permitting processes is a bonus.
