What will you do?
The Process Automation Field Devices R&D team is looking for a strong technical lead and manager to join our team, working on both existing products and exciting new approaches to automation systems using autonomous intelligent devices. This role allows you to lead a small group of Subject Matter Experts (SME) engineers and staff in our core Field Devices R&D team, as well as manage work with our centers of excellence and partner engineering groups. You will be responsible for end to end, wholistic designs as the project design lead for R&D deliverables for product updates and new offer creation projects. Some of the exciting Innovation PoCs we are working on include Ethernet for field devices, wireless & IoT, embedded AI/ML, and other digitization enablers. These PoCs are being performed based on direct customer conversations of their problems statements and value drivers. Participation in customer conversations is also a key part of this role.
What skills and capabilities will make you successful?
A candidate with an electromechanical background, experience with field devices in various industries, and a solid understanding of process design and firmware will excel in this role.
Who will you report to?
You will report to the Director of Process Instrumentation R&D. This is a hybrid position requiring at least two days per week in the Foxboro, MA office, with up to 25% travel expected annually.
What qualifications will make you successful for this role?
- Bachelor’s degree in technical field
- Experience as an individual contributor in direct engineering with one of the core disciplines of Computer, Electronics, and/ or Embedded Software. Preferably with industrial devices such as instruments or actuators that require pressure safety, explosive atmospheres, and functional safety.
- Experience as technical lead on a multi discipline team of software/firmware, hardware, and test engineers with a strong understanding of R&D process efficiency techniques.
- Ability to lead process changes.
- Experience in Offer Creation Processes, productization, exploration, etc.
