About the Role:
The Environmental Health & Safety Supervisor will develop, implement, and sustain comprehensive occupational health and safety programs. This role ensures the highest standards of workplace safety and compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as industry’s best practices. Key responsibilities include managing compliance and reporting, overseeing safety training initiatives, and driving the implementation of effective safety programs. The ideal candidate will be a proactive leader with a strong commitment to fostering a safe and compliant work environment.

Essential Job Functions:
- Design, implement, and drive company consistent cost-effective compliance training, and regulatory safety programs to ensure uniformity across the facilities.
- Design, and implement best practice techniques, implement new regulatory requirements, and provide control measures that reduce or eliminate risks to our employees and the company.
- Design and maintain the orientation and training curriculum for all employees, at all facilities, on current knowledge in compliance with all local, state and federal legislation regarding California/Fed OSHA, NFPA, EPA compliance requirements, including any emerging issues and trends in regulatory compliance.
- Conduct safety assessments at all facilities which include ensuring the completion of action items developed from all facilities, corporate audits, and reporting results to appropriate executive and management personnel.
- Oversee and continually enhance the site safety committee meetings and team responsibilities.
- Compile, analyze, interpret and report accident, loss, and exposure statistical data. Prepare comprehensive recommendations for corrective action to eliminate or minimize potential hazards.
- Present KPI’s to EVP of Quality and Compliance, as well as other company executives each month.
- Investigate accidents, injuries, illnesses and near misses. Determine root cause of incidents, recommend, and implement corrective action plans.
- Manage and track injury and illness data. Reduce injury and incident rates.
- Prepare, maintain, and comply with local, state, and federal agency environmental reporting and permitting.
- Actively interacts with employees on the production floor and office areas to promote a safety-focused culture, engaged at all levels.
- Anticipate, identify, and evaluate hazardous conditions and practices.
- Develop, implement, and administer hazard control methods, procedures and programs.
- Administer safety KPI's (Key Performance Indicators), PIR's (Preventative Investigation Reports) and Workplace Inspections.
- Maintain a database of all pertinent records, reports, permits and other paperwork as needed.
- Maintain Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) provisions and monitor employee practices that relate to food safety, cleanliness and sanitation.
- Maintain OSHA and Food Safety requirements for all operations in multiple locations.
- Assist with third party, consumer, corporate and regulatory audits.
- Maximize the effectiveness of ergonomics programs and initiatives
- Ensure that the Safe Behavior Observation, LOTO, Machine Guarding, Powered Industrial Truck programs are implemented and sustained.
- Performs other actions as assigned.
Work Experience Requirements:
- Has a track record of establishing and implementation of strategic safety programs for an organization.
- Designs and implements critical programs to achieve our strategic direction.
- Develop safety program performance objectives and measures safety performance with KPI’s.
- Communicate status/needs to plant employees and management.
- Provides leadership direction in the development, administration, and maintenance of safety compliance.
- 5 years’ relevant work experience in manufacturing safety programs and practices.
- Strong leadership skills, and a demonstrated comfort level with change, and the ability to lead change across multiple sites and levels of the organization,
- Demonstrated computer skills, exceptional proficiency with Microsoft Office specifically.
- Knowledge of manufacturing practices and processes, preferably in the food or dietary supplement industry.
- Detailed knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other applicable local industry environment, health and safety standards with hands on experience working with regulatory agency visits and auditors.
- Strong communication skills – both verbal and written
- Time management - Ability to adjust work hours as needed
- Demonstrated ability to move between tasks and projects on short notice and to quickly change priorities based on customer and department needs, while still meeting project deadlines Available for travel between locations on an ongoing basis.
- Certification as a Certified Safety Professional and at a minimum OSHA 30 Hour certification.
Education Requirements
- Certificate, Diploma or Degree in EHS from a recognized institution and experience in project, construction and/or industrial EHS fields
- 5+ years’ EHS experience of increasing responsibilities in a manufacturing or construction work environment
- Strong leadership, organizational and interpersonal skills
- Ability to make decisions, be a self-starter, hands-on and passionate about working in a team environment
- Able to effectively present information and respond to questions from operations leadership
- Experience in and knowledge of federal, state and local regulations
- Strong positive energy and enjoy driving improvement in the safety and well-being of others.
