Central Health, Safety & Environment Technologist
Location: High Wycombe with some travel to HQ in Chiswick
Working Pattern: Hybrid 3 days in the office, 2 days from home
What will this role achieve?
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-orientated Health, Safety & Environment Technologist to join our team. Reporting directly into the Director of Safety, Quality, Environment & Security (SQSE) the successful candidate will support multiple pladis sites with Health, Safety and Environmental advice and support, most notably with administrative support for employer liability claims.
The role will support the SQSE central function in the implementation of pladis policies and procedures and drive continuous improvement of the site standards and systems. Additionally the role will support the function with internal audits, supporting the sites in managing accidents, issues, incident prevention and investigations, and in delivering compliance to all legal, pladis and other relevant external standards.
What will be your key deliverables?
- Administer all health and safety at work liability claims, ensuring the prompt communication of new claims to key stakeholders and the effective collation and upload of all claims related information to insurance systems
- Act as functional administrator for all business software systems related to health and safety
- Develop and maintain a working knowledge in health, safety and environment matters in order to provide site teams with appropriate advice and support
- Support the SQSE Director in facilitating continuous improvement in all aspects of the site’s health & safety management systems and standards
- Provides managers and employees with information on legislative and corporate compliance, advises on ways of meeting statutory requirements and policies, recommendations and codes of practice
- Support in the investigation and review of accidents, incidents, complaints and environmental events, and the identification of solutions to prevent recurrence
- Drives close out of issues and non-conformance
- Takes an active part in the site SQSE team committee
- Support in the development of risk assessments
- Provides and advises on appropriate site training as required
- Audits, monitors, and reviews the implementation of health and safety policies, working practices, safety procedures and standards for all respective operations as directed by the SQSE Director
- Supports on site internal and external audits and accompanies auditors on site
- Collates data and information and reports on site’s performance
- Supports the site lead and central function by representing the site for regulatory health, safety & environmental authorities.

Essential
- NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent (obtained or working towards)
- Interest in a health & safety role
- Fully conversant with MS Office
- Inquisitive, determined, tenacious with courage to challenging the status quo
- Team player and enjoys being part of a team
- Self-motivated with a drive to achieve the best result
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Competent and can work effectively with key stakeholders
Desirable
- Familiar with recognised Health, Safety or Environmental Management system (ISO 14001 / OHSAS 45001)
- Familiar with risk assessment process
- Knowledge of Health & Safety Law and its application
- Certificate in Environmental Management or equivalent
