Civil Construction Environmental Officer
Location: this position is national/ site-based
We are seeking an Environmental Officer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for monitoring environmental compliance on construction sites, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements and implementing environmental management plans. The Environmental Officer will support risk assessments, conduct site inspections and promote sustainable environmental practices.
Main Responsibilities:
- Implement and maintain Environmental Management Systems (EMS) and ensure compliance with ISO14001 standards (if applicable).
- Conduct regular site inspections and audits to ensure adherence to environmental regulations, permits and client requirements.
- Identify environmental risks, investigate and report environmental incidents and implement mitigation measures, including pollution control and habitat protection.
- Oversee site-specific waste management plans, manage water usage, stormwater control, air quality, dust control and noise levels.
- Facilitate training sessions, toolbox talks and awareness programs to promote environmental responsibility.
- Collaborate with project teams and subcontractors to integrate environmental considerations into construction activities.
- Support rehabilitation efforts to restore disturbed areas post-construction.
Minimum Requirements:
- Diploma or Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in environmental compliance on construction sites.
