HumeLink West Project
Two CIMIC Group companies, UGL and CPB Contractors have been selected by Transgrid to deliver the 130km western section of the HumeLink high voltage electricity transmission project.
HumeLink is a new 500kV transmission project which will connect Wagga Wagga, Maragle and Bannaby in regional NSW that will significantly increase the capacity of the electricity network in Australia’s eastern states. HumeLink is one of Australia’s largest energy infrastructure projects, with about 365kms of proposed new transmission lines and a range of other new and upgraded infrastructure.
The HumeLink West scope of works, worth $1.4bn, includes delivery of new 500kV double circuit transmission lines spanning ~140kms from Wagga Wagga Substation to a new Substation at Gugaa, the Interface Point with HumeLink East near Gundagai and a new substation at Maragle in the Snowy Mountains for future connection to Snowy 2.0.
The Opportunity
We are currently recruiting for a Safety Environmental Advisor for the Humelink project. This is a site based position in Wagga Wagga, DIDO, FIFO or relocation options available for the position.
Key Accountabilities
·Identifying & implementing environmental practices
·Auditing, amending & implementation of the Construction Environmental Management Plan
·Provide technical advice, training and assistance to the project team
·Management of environmental issues including inspections to assess compliance risks
·Submitting and preparing compliance reports and data required to comply with state legal obligations
·Managing and improving environmental outcomes, for example\: surface water quality, stormwater management, monitoring, waste management, groundwater quality
·Delivering and participating in audits and reviewing environmental incidents in accordance with regulatory requirements, community obligations, and corporate policies
·Supporting the Environment Manager in developing, implementing and delivering training packages for direct reports and Front-Line leaders, support with Environmental Design Deliverables for the Work Packages
Qualifications and Experience
·Tertiary qualification in Environmental Science or related discipline
·Minimum 5 years’ experience in relevant environmental roles
·Sound understanding of NSW Environmental Legislation
·Demonstrated ability in developing and interpreting project related documents, preparing reports and monitoring compliance documentation
·Time management skills with an ability to effectively prioritise and manage assigned workload
About You
The successful candidate will be required to hold a current Construction Industry Induction Card (White Card or equivalent) and undergo a medical assessment (including drug and alcohol testing) prior to commencement.
Where applicable, evidence of tertiary qualifications and proof of right to work will be required prior to successful appointment.
