GEI is looking for a senior environmental engineer with project management experience to join our Duluth, Minnesota office. This is an opportunity to build and grow a practice in a nationwide, highly supportive organization that takes a long-term view of the marketplace.
The successful candidate will manage and support soil and groundwater investigation and remediation projects, perform remedial investigation, develop remedial designs, assess remedial alternatives, perform remedy implementation and monitoring, design and implement pilot tests, and prepare and review reports. Responsibilities may also include air quality permitting, air quality compliance, and environmental reporting.
Essential Responsibilities & Duties
The ideal candidate for this position will:
Support the development of new and existing clients and markets while cross-selling GEI’s other core business areas (e.g., permitting, water resources, ecological services, and engineering) to facilitate growth of GEI’s Minnesota offices.
Maintain high visibility in the marketplace through regular client contact.
Participate in client-based professional organizations and present at industry events.
Manage projects and tasks that support clients in the region with investigation and remediation of environmental conditions, environmental due diligence, environmental compliance and permitting.
Lead and work on a variety of environmental projects throughout the Midwest.
Prepare project correspondence, data reports, and work plans for internal and client review.
- Mentor and train staff.
Minimum Qualifications
- B.S. in Civil, Environmental, or Chemical Engineering; Masters preferred.
Experience with environmental permitting and compliance, focusing on federal and state (Wisconsin, Minnesota, Illinois, Michigan) environmental regulations is preferred. Experience with Wisconsin’s Spill Law and Michigan Part 201 and Part 213 risk-based assessment and closure are a plus.
Professional Engineer, Professional Geologist, and/or Certified Hydrogeologist is preferred.
5-15 years relevant experience.
Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical, judgement, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and organization skills.
- Seller-doer with strong regional connections and an entrepreneurial spirit.
