SUMMARY OF POSITION

LOCATION: City of Pasco, WA (on-site)

SALARY: $41.93-$50.34, depending on qualifications 

JOB TYPE: Regular/Full-Time

WORK SCHEDULE: Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm

THE ROLE:

The City of Pasco is seeking an experienced Environmental Compliance Coordinator to assist our Environmental Compliance Division within the Public Works Department. This position plays a key role in regulatory compliance for the City of Pasco’s water, wastewater, and stormwater utilities, assisting with key programs like Pretreatment and FOG.

REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: (Any equivalent combination of education and experience, which provides the applicant with the knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform the job.):

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in sanitary sewer and/or sewer treatment environmental compliance, preferably relating to municipal operations or a delegated environmental program. 
  • Bachelor of Science in environmental science, environmental or civil engineering, biology, chemistry, or closely related field or equivalent years of experience.
  • Experience initiating investigations and enforcement actions against non-compliant industrial users and other regulated entities. 
  • Experience writing technical reports for peer and management review and in communicating effectively both verbally and in writing.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Prior experience working with local and state regulatory agencies, including Ecology, is a plus.


COMPREHENSIVE BENEFITS PACKAGE: The City offers a full benefits package for the employee and all eligible dependents covered at low premiums including:

  • Medical at $153.70/month, dental at $11.59/month, and vision coverage at $6.54/month, all dependents covered for this low monthly premium!
  • $50,000 of basic life insurance paid for by the City and additional employee sponsored supplemental life insurance optional
  • 12 days of vacation during the 1st year of employment and 12 days of sick leave which are available for use upon accrual
  • 10 holidays, plus each employee receives 1 floating holiday each year
  • Washington State Department of Retirement Systems (DRS), which offers a guaranteed monthly benefit once vesting criteria has been met
  • In addition to DRS, employees may also contribute to a 457 Deferred Compensation Plan, that offers a pre-tax contribution of 4% from the City
  • Other benefits offered: Comprehensive Employee Assistance Program, Tuition Assistance, Flexible Spending Plan, Long-Term Disability, Aflac, and Flexible Schedule (per department approval)

SAFETY/WORK CONDITIONS: 

PHYSICAL: Sit for extended periods of time and intermittently stand, walk, kneel down, stoop, bend and twist at the waist, and drive a passenger car or pickup truck. Traverse rough and uneven surfaces on foot. Climb ladders to conduct inspections; dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard; hear and speak to exchange information; ability to see, including close vision.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Office environment; construction and utility sites; driving a vehicle to review work areas. Subject to seasonal weather changes and adverse conditions.
