Job Description:
The Environmental intern will help with targeted improvements to the overall effectiveness of the Environmental Management System (EMS). This will be achieved through conformance audits, compliance inspections and business system audits.
Qualifications/Skills/Knowledge & Education Recommendations:
The ideal candidate will currently be pursuing, or have achieved, a minimum 2-year degree in Environmental Sciences/Engineering or related Earth Science that desires a career in Industrial Manufacturing. Knowledge of the regulatory framework around environmental statutes, Kentucky & Federal law, and local risks associated with heavy industry is highly desired.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Conduct routine environmental compliance inspections, monitoring and sampling.
- Identify upset conditions, mitigate any associated risks and advise on Corrective Actions taken to remedy the condition and prevent it from reoccurring.
- Work with Operations and various Support Service Groups that impact the EMS in an advisory role.
- Perform required monitoring, documentation and reporting of qualifying environmental events.
- Seek EMS improvement opportunities that can be achieved cost effectively and without over burdening Operations.
