Position Summary Information
Primary Purpose | The Environmental Health & Safety Specialist will support all University departments and locations in maintaining compliance with all applicable State and Federal Environmental and Occupational Safety regulations through policy development and implementation, routine inspections, research, recommendations, and recordkeeping in order to promote compliance, safe practices, and prevent injuries and environmental harm. |

Physical Requirements | The physical demands described here are representative but not definitive of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Work is performed in both the outdoors and a standard office environment, which requires frequent walking, standing, simple grasping, climbing stairs, stooping and reaching. Office work includes periods of sitting with repetitive hand/wrist motion while using computer keyboard and phone. Frequent verbal and written communication. Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds. Exposure to hazardous materials. Must be eligible to wear a respirator. Work Environment/Work Week/Travel: Work is primarily performed in a standard office and lab EH&S role environment with use of computer and phone. Work performed during standard business hours. Infrequent overtime may be required to meet business needs. Valid driver’s license required. Incumbent must also be able to meet the University’s fleet rules and be eligible to drive for University business. The University and its insurance carrier reserves the right to exclude applicants based on their driving record. |
Hiring Range | $22.03 - $29.15 per hour. We consider factors such as, but not limited to, scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s qualifications, internal equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. |
