Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead all aspects of surface and groundwater management on-site, ensuring effective coordination of water-related activities across departments.
- Oversee and ensure timely updates and implementation of water-related management plans, including: Site-wide Surface Water and Groundwater Management Plan, Adaptive Water Management Plan, Selenium, Nitrogen, Phosphorus Management Plans, Metal Leaching and Acid Rock Drainage (ML/ARD) and Potentially Acid Generating (PAG) Management Plan, Calcite Management Plan, Erosion and Sediment Control Plan, and Aquatic Effects Monitoring Programs (AEMP).
- Lead the development, review, and submission of permit required reporting such as quarterly reporting and annual water quality and MLARD reports.
- Manage Metal Leaching and Acid Rock Drainage (ML/ARD) and Potentially Acid Generating (PAG) material monitoring programs and coordinate with QEPs as required.
- Manage the QA/QC program for water, including statistical trend analysis, reporting to stakeholders, and implementation of Adaptive Water Management strategies.
- Act as the primary technical contact for water-related permitting and monitoring programs.
- Maintain strong working relationships with external laboratories, ensuring timely coordination of chain of custody, analytical schedules, and QA/QC processes.
- Support cross-functional collaboration with environmental, engineering, and operations teams to align water management with site-wide compliance and operational goals.
- Contribute to stakeholder and regulatory engagement related to water quality, permitting, and environmental performance.
- Conduct field inspections and contribute to continual improvement of water management practices and site environmental performance.
Education, Experience & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Earth/Environmental Science, Biochemistry, Geochemistry, Environmental Engineering, or related field.
- Valid Driver's License
- Minimum of 5 years in environmental management or water management, preferably in mining or industrial operations
- Proficiency in environmental management software and Microsoft Office Suite
- Expertise in Environmental Management Systems (EMS), including maintaining compliance and ensuring the integration of environmental considerations into site operations
- Broad experience in environmental aspects of the mining industry, such as water quality, environmental effects monitoring, permitting, regulatory liaison, and consultation with stakeholders and First Nations.
- Proficiency in working with diverse teams, including operational, engineering, and environmental staff, to achieve operational objectives, manage risks, meet corporate requirements, and ensure compliance.
- Strong communication skills maintaining relationships with regulatory agencies, First Nations, and other stakeholders.
Technical Competencies & Skills
- Experience in implementing technical environmental programs related to resource development, preferably in the mining sector.
- Experience in Metal Leaching and Acid Rock Drainage
- Knowledge of environmental legislation relevant to mining in BC, including the BC Mines Act, BC Environmental Management Act, Federal Fisheries Act, Federal Species at Risk Act, and BC Wildlife Act.
- Competency in leading practice risk assessment and management approaches.
- Proficiency in implementing and maintaining Environmental Management Systems.
- Strong interpersonal skills with effective verbal and written communication abilities.
- Excellent project and process management skills.
- Capability to collaborate effectively with diverse groups, including operational, engineering, and environmental staff.
- Proficiency in communication with regulators, First Nations, and other stakeholders.
- Understanding and application of leading practice techniques and technologies in environmental management at mining sites.
- Ability to adhere to the assigned work schedule, which would be 5x2 (Monday- Friday)
- Must be able to communicate in English.
- Proven safety and attendance record.
- Willingness and ambition to learn, self starter, ability to work in a team and independently prioritizing multiple projects.
- Ability and willingness to work in all changing weather conditions on the mine site.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with peers, trainees, and leadership.
Wage and Benefits

Specifically for the Environmental Coordinator role, we offer an annual base salary range of $96,000.00 - $120,000.00, along with a variety of bonuses. These bonuses include monthly efficiency bonuses linked to safety and production, quarterly retention bonuses, and a performance bonus tailored to reward your contributions.
