Position Summary:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Sustainability Coordinator to champion sustainability initiatives across our Home Office, Clayton Bradley Academy (CBA), and Lodge facilities.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing waste management, energy efficiency, and certification projects such as LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) and TRUE (Total Resource Use and Efficiency), and making recommendations to drive improvements, implementing strategies, and reporting towards desired outcomes.
This role also involves representing the organization at events, facilitating educational programs, and coordinating efforts between the Home Office, CBA, the Lodge, and the Sr. Director of Sustainability and their team, to achieve our sustainability goals of reducing our overall waste stream and becoming carbon neutral.
Responsibilities:
- Event Presence and Representation:
- Represent the organization at company events, conferences, and workshops.
- Network with industry professionals, stakeholders, and community members to promote the organization’s sustainability initiatives and foster partnerships.
- Project Coordination:
- Oversee the planning, execution, and evaluation of sustainability projects and initiatives.
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure successful outcomes.
- Prepare and present progress reports to senior management and other stakeholders.
- Waste Management:
- Develop and implement waste reduction and management strategies for the Home Office, CBA, and Lodge.
- Monitor waste generation and diversion rates and identify opportunities for reducing waste and improving recycling practices.
- Communicate regularly with the Compost team and coordinate necessary resources and reporting infrastructure.
- Energy Efficiency:
- Oversee energy management projects, including energy audits, efficiency upgrades, and the implementation of renewable energy solutions.
- Track energy consumption data, analyze trends, and recommend actions to reduce energy usage and costs.
- Manage energy-related certification processes and documentation.
- Certification Lead:
- Lead and coordinate LEED certification projects for the Home Office.
- Prepare and submit documentation required for LEED certification, ensuring all criteria are met.
- Manage the TRUE certification process, ensuring compliance with criteria and leading efforts to achieve certification.
- Educational Programs:
- Develop and deliver educational programs and workshops on sustainability topics for Team Members and CBA students/staff.
- Create engaging materials and activities to raise awareness and encourage participation in sustainability initiatives.
- Foster a culture of environmental stewardship through ongoing education and outreach efforts.
- Coordination and Communication:
- Serve as the primary liaison between the Home Office, CBA, and Lodge, coordinating sustainability efforts and ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
- Facilitate regular meetings and communications between stakeholders to discuss progress, challenges, and opportunities.
- Develop and maintain relationships with local community groups, government agencies, and other organizations to support sustainability initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Education, or a related field is preferred.
- 1-3 years of experience in sustainability coordination, environmental management, or a related role is preferred.
- Background in communications, marketing and digital design is helpful.
- Basic technical background and knowledge.
- Familiarity with LEED and TRUE certification processes and requirements.
- Strong knowledge of waste management practices, energy efficiency measures, and sustainability principles.
- Proven ability to represent an organization at events and build relationships with stakeholders.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and project management skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and manage multiple priorities.
- Foster a culture of equity and inclusion by recognizing the diverse needs and perspectives of groups and individuals.
- Bi-lingual Spanish-speaking is a plus.
