WSP Hungary has a new opportunity for a Mid-level Environmental Specialist to support our Sustainability Services team in Hungary on a full-time contract basis. The successful candidate will join our multi-discipline team supporting in the development of projects in different sectors.
YOUR NEW ROLE, WHATS INVOLVED?
We are looking for an environmental specialist to play a key role in assessing environmental risks and ensuring compliance with regulations. In this role, you will lead Environmental Due Diligence Assessments (EDDA) and Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) compliance audits. You will also contribute to Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) and Integrated Pollution Prevention and Control (IPPC) permitting, conducting in-depth environmental evaluations. Additionally, you will be involved in sustainability-focused projects, particularly those related to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) factors.
You will be responsible for managing environmental components of Environmental, Social, and Health Impact Assessments (ESHIA) and Environmental and Social Due Diligence (ESDD). This includes post-finance monitoring of projects funded by banks and lenders, identifying risks, reviewing compliance, and supporting reporting processes. Under the guidance of the Project Manager, you will also assist in preparing project documentation, developing technical reports, and contributing to technical proposals. WHAT IF IT WAS YOU?
To be successful in this role, you should have a degree (MSc/BSc) in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Geology, or a related field. A strong understanding of the Hungarian and EU environmental legislative framework is essential, and familiarity with Hungarian Health and Safety (HS) regulations would be an advantage. You should have at least five years of relevant post-graduate experience, ideally within a consultancy environment and on international projects. The role requires the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under time constraints, along with experience in technical report writing. A valid category “B” driving license is also necessary.
Fluency in both written and spoken English and Hungarian is a must, and additional language skills would be a plus. Experience with air and noise modeling software would also be beneficial. As this role involves communication with a wide range of stakeholders, strong interpersonal and teamwork skills are essential. You should be comfortable networking with international teams and collaborating on complex projects. Additionally, a willingness to travel for short-term assignments worldwide is required, offering an exciting opportunity to work on diverse and impactful projects.
