Our client, based in Durban, is looking for an experienced Sustainability Consultant to join their team.

Strategic Sustainability Planning & Execution

Analyse sustainability data and industry trends to identify high-impact sustainability strategies.
Develop actionable recommendations for clients to enhance environmental, social, and governance (ESG) performance.
Support organisations in setting and achieving sustainability goals through clear roadmaps and best practices.

Stakeholder Engagement & Change Management

Engage with C-suite executives, department heads, and frontline employees to drive sustainability initiatives.
Facilitate cross-sector collaborations, aligning government policies, corporate objectives, and industry standards.
Conduct training and awareness sessions to secure stakeholder buy-in and ensure smooth adoption of sustainability initiatives.

Project Management & Execution

Define SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound) sustainability objectives and key performance indicators (KPIs).
Identify and mitigate potential risks that could impact project success.
Oversee the implementation of sustainability projects, ensuring adherence to budgets, timelines, and compliance standards.

Data Analysis & Reporting

Collect, analyse, and interpret sustainability-related data to drive evidence-based decision-making.
Develop and present reports, dashboards, and presentations that communicate complex sustainability insights to diverse audiences.
Track and measure progress on sustainability initiatives, providing recommendations for continuous improvement.

Regulatory Compliance & Industry Best Practices

Stay updated on global and regional sustainability regulations, standards, and frameworks.
Guide clients on carbon footprint assessments, ESG disclosures, and climate risk management.
Ensure sustainability initiatives align with corporate governance structures and reporting requirements.

Innovation & Continuous Learning

Research emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in sustainability and decarbonization.
Identify opportunities for companies to implement circular economy principles, energy efficiency, and low-carbon innovations.
Drive continuous improvement by testing and refining sustainability strategies based on real-world application and feedback.

Honours / Masters Degree in Sustainability, Environmental Science, or a related field.
Experience in an analytical, consulting, or sustainability-focused role.
Strong proficiency in Excel (data analysis, modeling) and PowerPoint (presentations, reports).
Ability to interpret and apply sustainability data to business strategy.
Experience in setting up and tracking sustainability projects with SMART goals and KPIs.
Ability to facilitate collaborations between public and private stakeholders.
Ability to connect sustainability initiatives with broader business goals.
Strong analytical skills to translate complex sustainability data into actionable insights.
Ability to work across industries, from corporate boardrooms to manufacturing sites.
Strong problem-solving abilities to drive measurable sustainability outcomes.
Skilled in stakeholder engagement, change management, and securing buy-in for sustainability programs.
Practical knowledge of carbon measurement, footprinting, and emissions reporting.
Experience with sustainability frameworks.
Prior experience in the manufacturing sector.
