We are looking for a Principal Advisor - Environment to join our Central Environment Team in Brisbane. In this role you will provide strategic oversight and leadership to strengthen controls and reduce overall environmental risk profile across our bauxite mines, refineries and smelters in our Aluminium Pacific Operations.

Reporting to the Business Partner Environment and working in a collaborative team of environmental professionals within the Pacific Operations Central Environment Team and across our sites, you will:
- Collaborate effectively across Pacific Operations to ensure compliance with permits and to develop strategies for mitigating environmental risks.
- Provide guidance to site and asset managers both existing and emerging environmental issues and risks. Influence actions to improve environmental performance
- Assist leadership in making informed strategic decisions regarding Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) matters.
- Influence site based environment teams to transform environment risk profile
- Review environmental incidents in accordance with regulatory requirements, community obligations, and corporate policies.
- Provide leadership and strategic oversight to consultant/s engaged to deliver services, on time and within budget
What you’ll bring

- Experience in effectively navigating a complex business environment characterized by a matrix organizational structure.
- Experience working in a fast paced and dynamic environment
- Ability to prioritise work delivery against a background of competing business objectives
- A Bachelor’s degree in an Environmental, Engineering or related discipline with knowledge of key concepts theories and practices related to environmental aspects and impacts, risk management, State and Federal Legislation and environmental management systems
- Relevant industry (large scale smelting, processing or chemical manufacturing) or mining experience
- Experience in regulatory engagement in our operational jurisdictions
- Demonstrated experience in executing work in air, water and waste management aspects.
- Willingness to get hands on with problem solving and improvement
- Resilience and a dynamic approach to problem solving
