The Sustainability Analyst will play a critical role in advancing transportation and logistics sustainability initiatives, with a strong focus on data analytics, freight decarbonization, and ESG reporting. This is not a generic sustainability role—this position requires hands-on subject matter expertise in transportation emissions, logistics optimization, and sustainability strategy execution. The Analyst will analyze sustainability performance, develop data-driven insights, manage sustainability reporting, and engage internal and external stakeholders—including carriers, vendors, and clients—to drive measurable ESG outcomes.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Sustainability Data Management & Analysis
- Conduct GHG Protocol, GLEC, ISO 14083 aligned GHG emissions inventories (Scopes 1, 2, 3).
- Build and manage data framework, dashboards, and reports to track sustainability progress.
- Analyze sustainability performance, identify actionable continuous improvement insights.
- Use Power BI and Excel to create dashboards and visualizations for stakeholders.
- Document processes, progress, best practices aligned with quality management system.
Project Support & Execution
- Help manage multi-stakeholder transportation decarbonization projects, including electrification, renewable diesel, sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), and packaging circularity.
- Support transportation optimization initiatives by proactively identifying opportunities to shift modes, optimize loads and routes, and transition to more sustainable fuels.
- Help develop and execute a sustainability strategy, including assessments of current sustainability performance and ESG materiality, sustainability framework, goals, and actionable plans to achieve.
- Work with warehouse operations to implement sustainability initiatives, such as energy efficiency, electrification, and reducing packaging waste.
Sustainability Reporting & Communications
- Create compelling sustainability communication materials, including digital content, sales enablement tools, quarterly business review materials, sustainability reports, etc.
- Support submissions to CDP, Supplier Assurance, Ecovadis, and other ratings agencies.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Build strong relationships with internal teams (IT, Finance, Operations, Marketing, Solutions, Sales) to drive sustainability integration, data accuracy and sustainability performance.
- Support carrier engagement on expectations, data collection, and collaboration.
- Serve as a point of contact for clients, carriers, and vendor partners on sustainability, including expectations, data collection, issue resolution, and compliance with our Partner Code of Conduct and environmental standards.
- Engage and help train carriers, team members, clients, on sustainability goals and practices.
- Support management and execution of engagements with sustainability solutions providers.
- Represent the company in external sustainability discussions, workshops, and events.
Policy, Compliance, & Advocacy
- Stay informed about global sustainability regulations, frameworks, and best practices.
- Ensure compliance with ESG standards and certifications.
- Comply with the requirements of the company’s Quality Management System.
Required Skills, Experience, and Education:
- 4+ years of related experience (in freight, transportation, and logistics – and ideally in sustainability as well).
- Advanced proficiency in Power BI and Excel, with extensive experience in producing reports and dashboards. Familiarity with additional tools such as Tableau, SQL Server, and project management software. Skilled in PowerPoint, Word, and other project management tools.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with great attention to detail, and ability to translate data into actionable insights.
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines and communicate effectively across teams.
- Strong interpersonal & communication skills, ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
Desired Skills, Experience, and Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Sustainability, Environmental Science, Supply Chain Management, Information Systems, Data Analytics or related field or 8+ years of relevant experience.
- At least 2+ years of experience in transportation and logistics sustainability.
- Knowledge of sustainability frameworks—GLEC, ISO 14083, ISO 14001, CDP, GHG Protocol, SBTi, TCFD, etc.
- Familiarity with decarbonization strategies in logistics, such as route/load/mode optimization, SAF, biodiesel, and renewable diesel.
- Passion for sustainability and a commitment to driving meaningful change.
Physical Requirements:
- Remain in a stationary/seated position for an extended period.
- Regularly required to operate a computer, telephone, keyboard, and other office machinery.
