Opportunity
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Battery Test Engineer to join our team. This is a very hands-on position, working alongside technicians and interns on the floor to design, schedule, execute, and report the results of the tests on zinc-air battery cells.
Position Scope and Responsibilities
Conduct standard testing on zinc-air battery cells, including charge-discharge cycles, while collecting relevant data.
Work directly with technicians on the floor to execute hands-on testing and objectively document testing incidents and other relevant observations.
Comfortable working with various dangerous materials, including corrosive liquids.
Collect, analyze, and report test data while ensuring accuracy and reliability.
Participate in or lead structured problem-solving activities using methodologies such as 8D, Red-X, and Six Sigma to identify root cause(s) and drive issue resolution.
Expert knowledge and practical application of why analysis, Ishikawa diagram, is/is-not, and other problem analysis tools.
Evaluate non-standard test requests for relevancy and recommend changes to the test flow to accomplish the goals of the tests. Act as a gatekeeper to only conduct value-added activities.
Ensure all testing activities align with agreed-upon acceptance criteria and maintain objectivity in reporting.
Maintain and calibrate (or schedule calibration with external services) test equipment to ensure optimal performance and accuracy.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, quality, and manufacturing, to support product development and validation.
Adhere to safety protocols and industry best practices in battery module testing.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Prior experience in testing electro-mechanical systems, battery modules, or battery packs.
Prior experience working in an IATF 16949 environment would be an asset. Testing experience in a high-volume, high-reliability environment, such as automotive or medical equipment, is highly preferred.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience in methodologies like 8D, Red-X, Six Sigma, etc.
Proficiency in data acquisition, analysis, and reporting tools.
Ability to interpret engineering specifications and develop test plans accordingly.
Knowledge of safety standards and best practices related to battery testing.
Familiarity with environmental and mechanical stress testing of batteries.
Knowledge of automation in battery testing and data logging systems.

Opportunity
We seek hands-on Zinc-Air Battery Test Technicians (two open positions) to join our team. This role is ideal for individuals with experience in testing electro-mechanical and electro-chemical devices, particularly devices that integrate chemical, electrical, mechanical, and materials engineering principles. Prior experience working in a high-volume, high-reliability testing environment would be preferred. Prior experience working on battery packs & modules would be an asset.
Position Scope and Responsibilities
Perform electrochemical testing on zinc-air batteries, including setting up tests, cycling the batteries, observing & reporting test incidents, taking interval and post-test measurements, and then cleaning up the test setup.
Set up, operate, and maintain battery test equipment and DAQ instrumentation.
Assist in troubleshooting and diagnosing battery and test setup issues by accurately and objectively documenting and reporting test incidents. Maintain detailed records of testing processes, results, and observations.
Work closely with engineers to refine testing methodologies and improve battery performance.
Contribute to continuous improvement of the lab's safety, operating efficiency & effectiveness, and other processes and procedures.
Qualifications
Education in Engineering, Applied Science, Technologist, Technician, or a related technical field in electrical, mechanical, chemical, or materials preferred.
Prior hands-on experience in executing electrochemical and/or electromechanical testing. Experience with DMM, oscilloscope, titration, handheld tools, portable power tools are needed. It would be an asset if you have experience working with thermocouples, power supplies, modular DAQ.
Prior experience working in a test lab handling high-volume, high-reliability hardware products, such as automotive tier 1 suppliers and medical equipment manufacturers and suppliers.
Prior experience working in a test lab governed by safety protocols related to battery testing, chemical handling, high current / high voltage products and equipment. Work needs to be performed while wearing appropriate PPE.
Basic understanding of materials science, chemistry, and mechanical and electrical engineering concepts.
Proficiency in using computer software for data collection and analysis (e.g., Excel, LabVIEW, Python, R, or similar tools) would be an asset.
Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow structured testing protocols.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work in a team-oriented environment.

We seek a highly motivated and detail-oriented Quality Engineer to join our team in Mississauga, ON. This role is responsible for ensuring the highest quality standards in manufacturing processes, supplier interactions, and overall product integrity. The Quality Engineer will drive continuous improvement, maintain compliance with industry standards, and foster a culture of quality excellence.
Responsibilities
Lead root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for quality issues using structured problem-solving methodologies (e.g., 8D, 5-Why, Ishikawa).
Conduct supplier visits for audits, quality assurance monitoring, and process improvement initiatives.
Develop, implement, and maintain in-house quality processes, procedures, and documentation to meet industry and company standards.
Manage and maintain Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) and Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) documentation, including process flow charts, Process Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (PFMEA), and control plans.
Ensure proper calibration, maintenance, and validation of measurement devices, taking full ownership of quality measurement tools.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, production, and supply chain, to improve product quality and reduce defects.
Conduct internal and external audits, ensuring adherence to regulatory and customer-specific quality requirements.
Work with manufacturing teams to identify and implement process improvements that enhance efficiency and quality.
Develop training programs for production staff on quality control procedures, defect prevention, and problem-solving techniques.
Participate in new product development and launch activities to ensure quality is built into designs from the initial stages.
Utilize statistical process control (SPC) and data analysis techniques to monitor product quality and identify trends or areas for improvement.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering.
Experience in the automotive manufacturing industry (mandatory).
3-10 years of experience in quality engineering or supplier quality management roles
Experience in manufacturing engineering and process improvement methodologies.
Certifications: Quality training such as Six Sigma (Green or Black Belt), ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), or Lean Manufacturing is a strong asset.
Proven experience with APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, control plans, and other core quality tools.

Reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer, this role will be key in managing customer relationships, driving go-to-market strategies, and securing funding opportunities for e-Zinc's innovative energy storage technology. The position requires collaboration with cross-functional teams, including Engineering, Operations, and Finance, to align commercial priorities with technical and operational goals. The ideal candidate will excel at customer account management, securing and negotiating deals, and managing non-dilutive grant applications.
Position Scope and Responsibilities
Lead market development efforts, working directly with prospective customers to understand their techno-commercial requirements, challenges, and needs for long-duration energy storage solutions.
Drive early-stage pipeline development by identifying and qualifying opportunities for pilots and demonstrations, ensuring alignment with e-Zinc’s commercialization strategy.
Collaborate closely with the Chief Commercial Officer to shape go-to-market approaches and inform business models.
Work with early-stage customers to structure deals for demonstrations and pilot projects, securing necessary commitments and ensuring project success.
Develop and refine project fulfillment strategies, including identifying and coordinating logistics, EPC contractors, and other delivery partners.
Conduct market research and competitive analysis, providing insights to support strategic decision-making and product-market fit.

Qualifications

Minimum of 5 years of experience in market development and partnerships, preferably in the cleantech or energy sector.
Strong customer relationship-building skills, with a deep understanding of long-duration energy storage markets and customer needs.
Proven ability to structure early-stage partnerships and demonstration projects.
Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with experience engaging C-level executives and stakeholders.
