Who You Are
As a Battery Integration Engineer on the Battery Engineering team, you will design batteries using Sila’s next-generation anode material for consumer applications. You are someone who excels at systems level thinking and analyzing design tradeoffs. You’ll work with diverse technical teams and business partners to engage directly with our customers to deliver battery solutions. In your work at Sila you’ll design cells, execute test plans, and communicate data across multiple programs.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Interface directly with customers to set performance specifications and design cells with Sila products for end applications
- Translate system-level requirements into battery-level specifications
- Design, schedule, and execute test plans to deliver qualification results for prototype cell builds and customer qualification stages to meet program timelines
- Perform failure analysis and implement mitigation plans for issues identified in prototype cell builds or customer qualification testing
- Effectively communicate ideas, plans, and results externally to partners and internally across diverse Sila teams

Knowledge and Skill Requirements
- Experience with integration of cells into packs or devices, including protection circuits, gas gauging, charging IC, and system level design considerations
- Experience with the NPI process in Consumer Electronics or Batteries
- Familiarity with cell design and tradeoffs, including overhangs, tabs, and tolerances
- Familiarity with cell teardowns, characterization methods, and cell testing
- Ability to carefully plan and implement multiple projects simultaneously
- At least a B.S. in engineering or science and 8+ years of experience (fewer for candidates with an advanced degree)
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
- Operate a computer and other office equipment, such as a laptop, copier/printer, etc in a fixed location
- Wear personal protective equipment including, but not limited to, a lab coat, gloves, safety glasses, and steel toe safety shoes
- Move long distances (such as from building to building) and be stationary for extended periods of time
- Pass a respirator fit test and be able to wear respiratory protection on an occasional basis
Regular Shift: Monday - Friday, 9:00am - 6:00pm
The starting base pay for this role is between $151,000 and $191,000 at the time of posting. The actual base pay depends on many factors, such as education, experience, and skills. Base pay is only one part of Sila’s competitive Total Rewards package that can include benefits, perks, equity, and bonuses. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
