As we continue to expand, we are seeking an experienced General Manager to oversee day-to-day operations and provide strategic support to the CEO.

Position Overview:

The General Manager will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the business. You will be responsible for managing the overall operations with a focus on financial control, systems, procedures, procurement and optimizing team performance. This position is ideal for a dynamic leader with a passion for clean energy and a proven track record in operations and team management.

Duties & Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Management:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of managers and employees across various departments (administration, sales, warehouse, customer service, etc.).
  • Provide clear direction, create a positive work environment, and foster a culture of accountability and high performance.
  • Oversee staffing, recruitment, training, and development to build a capable and motivated team.

Operations Management:

  • Dovetail with the Technical Director and engineering team to ensure the efficient execution of solar installations, from project scoping to completion, meeting quality standards and timelines.
  • Manage inventory, procurement, and equipment to ensure the company is prepared for projects.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve operational efficiency and reduce costs.

Financial Oversight:

  • Oversee the company’s financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting, and P&L management.
  • Ensure profitability through cost management and the efficient allocation of resources.
  • Analyse financial data to identify areas for improvement or growth.
  • Ensure that the company is adequately insured

Sales & Customer Service:

  • Drive business growth by supporting the sales team in generating new business opportunities and maintaining relationships with existing clients.
  • Ensure excellent customer service, addressing client issues, concerns, or queries promptly.
  • Identify opportunities for upselling additional services or products related to solar energy.

Compliance & Risk Management:

  • Ensure the company complies with all local, state, and federal regulations regarding solar installations.
  • Oversee safety protocols and risk management strategies to ensure a safe working environment for all employees.

Desired Experience & Qualification

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a General Manager or in a similar senior leadership role, ideally within the solar energy, construction, or related industry.
  • Strong understanding of solar installation operations, processes, and technologies is advantageous.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of budgeting, financial management, and performance metrics.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities with a focus on optimizing operations and achieving business objectives.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, adapt to change, and lead a growing company.
  • Experience with business development and sales strategies is a plus.
  • A passion for renewable energy and sustainability is highly desired.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in the related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of managerial experience, preferably in the renewable energy field.
  • Project management certification or experience is a plus

Package & Remuneration

  • R60 000 CTC – depending on experience, qualifications, and skills
