Job Description and Duties
Under the general direction of the Office Chief, Office of Statewide Material Distribution, a Staff Services Manager II, the
incumbent supervises a group of analysts in the procurement of goods, writing of service contracts, specification creation, vendor
compliance, and invoice payment. The successful candidate must adhere to ethical practices and policies, ensure best value for
the State, and demonstrate a positive attitude and a commitment to providing quality service that is accurate, timely, and exceeds
customers’ expectations.
Eligibility for hire may be determined by your score on the Staff Services Manager I
exam. For those who do not have current eligibility (e.g., transfer, permissive reinstatement, or voluntary demotions) and/or who will be new to state civil services employment, you must be on the state examination list to be eligible for these positions. To apply for the exam, please click

Working Conditions
Position is located at: 1900 Royal Oaks Dr, Sacramento, CA
While at their base of operation, employees will work in a climate-controlled office under artificial lighting. In-state travel may be required related to statewide districts and/or divisions to provide training, address and resolve issues/concerns regarding acquisition priorities, and to disseminate acquisition policies.
New to
State candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or
minimum of alternate range when applicable.
