Main Purpose of the Role:
To support the acquisition and delivery of our Clients portfolio of transport work. With your focus being on low carbon transport and e-mobility as well as to support the broader transport portfolio as well as to support work across other sectors within the business.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
- Defining client problems concisely, in simple terms, and developing hypotheses to identify solutions, working collaboratively with clients.
- Leading or coordinating quantitative and qualitative analysis to identify suitable solutions.
- Analysis of policies, regulatory frameworks and barriers, and development of policy, regulatory and strategic approaches to support low carbon transport and e-mobility.
- Leading or coordinating the development of high-quality project deliverables, including slide decks, reports, financial models or other analytical tools.
- Communicating with and presenting findings to clients, partners and senior decision-makers in government, development finance, NGOs and the private sector with a high level of confidence.
- Actively contribute to and drive the development of new business opportunities, with a particular focus on the low carbon transport sector and e-mobility.
- Managing cross-functional and geographically dispersed teams tackling complex business, economic and social challenges for clients.
- Cultivating and managing relationships with clients and stakeholders.
- Managing stakeholders, both in the formal and informal sectors that Clients work with and assisting the clients in doing the same.
- Managing subcontractors, including overseeing the delivery of high-quality deliverables by these parties.
- Developing knowledge products on topics in the sectors that the Client works in.
- Supporting project management and administration, to comply with client or company requirements and standard procedures.
- Contributing to practice and company-wide strategic initiatives.
- Mentoring and managing junior staff.
Key qualification, skills and attributes:
- At least Masters degree in Economics, Engineering, Public Policy, Environmental Science or related field.
- 7-10 Years of working in consultancy or business advisory
- Minimum 5 Years experience in transport and climate or infrastructure or related sectors, including work in the analysis and implementation of strategies, policies, and regulations
- At least 2+ years of experience in the analysis, planning and/or implementation of low carbon transport or e-mobility projects
- Demonstrate proven knowledge of low carbon transport and electric mobility, including international best practice
- Experience in managing and delivering consulting assignments and comfort with client and contract management
- Comfort with undertaking, and guiding junior colleagues in, the delivery of quantitative and qualitative analysis to inform proposals and recommendations to clients
Advantageous:
- Experience working with climate finance and development finance institutions, as well as the private sector.
- Experience with projects in the public sector, across national, provincial and local spheres of government.
Attributes:
- Comfort with complexity and detail, without losing sight of the broad, strategic objectives of projects.
- Ability to communicate project solution proposals to clients and other stakeholders in a persuasive way that promotes buy-in and builds trust, both through written deliverables and presentations.
- Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and deliver, individually or through others, deliverables of high quality.
- Commercial acumen and project management capabilities.
