PositionSummary
The Applications Engineerprovidestechnicalexpertise to support CanadianSolar’s energy storage solutions.Thispositionwillberesponsibleforthepre-salesactivitiesofutility-scaleBatteryEnergy Storage Systems (BESS) including system sizing, preliminary design, and value engineering.
Thisrolewillrequirethechosencandidatetoworkcloselywiththecommercialandengineeringteams to help develop proposals for new storage project opportunities and provide technical support to respond to customer needs. A senior level position will be considered for candidates with the right experience.
Responsibilities
- Understandcustomer’sneedsfromRFPorotherdocumentationanddetermineprojectscope, schedule, technical specifications and risks.
- Developsizemodelsandconceptualdrawingssetsbyworkingwithotherapplicationengineersas needed.
- Workwiththeprocurementteamtoobtainquotesandpreparepricingforprojects.
- Prepareproposalsincludingtechnicalandcommercialdocumentationincollaborationwithother departments.
- Negotiatetechnicalandcommercialcontracttermswithcustomersbyworkingtogetherwiththe commercial team.
- Workcloselywithotherbusinessdevelopmentandapplicationsstaff,engineeringandprocurement to ensure complete and shared project understanding and priorities.
- Conducttechnicalandsalespresentationsandprovideclarificationstocustomersandother departments.
Requirements
- 5+yearsofexperienceinapre-saleengineeringrole.
- Directexperienceinbatteryenergystoragesystemsorutility-scalesolar.
- Exceptionaltechnicalaptitudeincludingtheabilitytoreadandfullyunderstandengineering schematics, technical advisory reports, and technology reviews.
- Solidunderstandingofregulatorystandardsin Japanrelatedtoenergystorageandgrid-interactive inverters.
- Globalperspectiveandawareness,anddirectexperienceworkingacrossdiverseculturesina multinational company would be beneficial.
- Bachelor’sdegreeinengineering(preferablyElectricalorMechanical)isrequired;agraduatedegree is strongly preferred.
- Strongcommunication(writtenandverbal)skillsinbothJapaneseandEnglishisrequired.
