Role Description:


The Manager – Business Development (Carbon Portfolio Management) plays a crucial role in driving the company’s growth in the carbon markets by identifying new business opportunities, developing client relationships, and managing carbon credit transactions. This position requires a strong understanding of carbon markets, regulatory frameworks, and sustainability trends to help clients achieve their carbon reduction goals while maximizing revenue for the company.


Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Actively research and identify potential business opportunities in the carbon market, including new clients, partnerships, and emerging projects.
  • Stay updated on trends in carbon markets, regulatory changes, and innovations in carbon credits, offsets, and sustainability initiatives to capitalize on potential growth areas.
  • Build and nurture strong, long-term relationships with key clients, stakeholders, and regulatory authorities.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring their needs are met by delivering tailored carbon solutions that align with their sustainability goals.
  • Manage communications and engagements with high-level stakeholders in the carbon and environmental sectors, including government bodies, private entities, and international organizations.
  • Lead efforts to structure and execute carbon credit transactions, collaborating closely with trading platforms, clients, and internal teams.
  • Develop pricing strategies for carbon credits and assist in negotiating contracts to maximize revenue and meet client needs.
  • Stay informed of market fluctuations and regulatory changes that could affect carbon pricing and trading opportunities.
  • Conduct comprehensive market research to understand competitor activities, new developments in carbon offset protocols, and advancements in emission reduction technologies.
  • Analyze potential market entry strategies and recommend plans for developing new business areas, including voluntary and compliance markets.
  • Work closely with project managers, technical teams, and external partners to ensure carbon projects are executed efficiently, from inception to completion.
  • Ensure timely delivery of all deliverables while managing client expectations, and addressing any project-related issues as they arise.
  • Maintain oversight on project milestones and financial targets, ensuring alignment with company goals.
  • Monitor the progress of business development initiatives and prepare regular reports for senior management, detailing pipeline status, revenue forecasts, and key metrics.
  • Use CRM systems to log and track interactions with clients, leads, and partners, ensuring transparency in all BD activities.
  • Evaluate the success of carbon projects and sales initiatives, offering insights for future business development strategies.
  • Attend relevant industry conferences, seminars, and networking events to represent the company and build a strong network within the carbon market.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (finance, legal, technical) to provide clients with comprehensive solutions, addressing technical and financial aspects of carbon trading.
  • Actively seek opportunities to partner with other firms, governments, or NGOs on collaborative projects that enhance the company’s visibility in the carbon space.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven track record in business development, client acquisition, and revenue generation.
  • Prior experience managing carbon projects, carbon credit transactions, or sustainability initiatives.
  • Experience working with international carbon markets, multinational clients, or climate finance projects.
  • Experience in engaging with stakeholders from regulatory bodies, private entities, and environmental organizations.
