Description

Recycling Services of Florida is seeking a motivated Mechanic to join our team. In this role, you will assist experienced mechanics with various duties, including performing repairs on heavy equipment, general labor within the shop and field, and helping with tool handling and maintenance tasks. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to gain hands-on experience in the mechanic field while contributing to the operation of our recycling equipment and fleet.

Key Responsibilities

Assist the Mechanic(s) with daily tasks and repair activities on heavy equipment and trucks.
Perform preventative maintenance, including cleaning, washing, fueling, and greasing equipment.
Pickup parts from local vendors as needed.
Relocate equipment to designated repair areas.
Transport tools and equipment to and from storage and work areas.
Oil and grease machines and perform other routine maintenance tasks.
Keep the work area, tools, and equipment clean and organized.
Assist with welding and fabrication when required.
Perform any other duties assigned by the lead mechanic.
Occasionally assist in other areas of the shop operation as needed.

Requirements

Must have a valid Driver’s License (Class A preferred).
Forklift experience is required.
Previous experience in a labor-intensive position (3 years minimum).
Strong mechanical aptitude, with some experience working on heavy-duty trucks and equipment.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and perform physical tasks (able to lift 50 lbs continuously).
Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled environment.
Willingness to work weekends and overtime as needed.
Must be safety-oriented with a positive attitude and attention to detail.
Welding and fabrication experience is a plus.
Must own basic mechanic tools.
