The Opportunity… GRID Alternatives is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Clean Mobility Assistant to lead key efforts in assessing, planning, and promoting clean mobility infrastructure in collaboration with community stakeholders. This role is a part-time position for 9 months and will involve a mix of research, community engagement, and deliverable-focused project work.
- Assessment & Analysis
- Conduct a comprehensive evaluation of existing Electric Vehicle Charging (EVC) infrastructure, including location and quality.
- Identify maintenance and operational needs for nonfunctional EVC.
- Assess community electric vehicle (EV) adoption rates and general awareness of EVs.
- Explore opportunities to integrate clean mobility infrastructure with renewable energy generation, such as solar + storage systems.
- Identify and propose potential sites for new, high-quality EVC stations.
- Community Engagement & Education
- Build ongoing relationships with the community to raise awareness about clean mobility and EVs.
- Share clean mobility resources, including information on EV incentives, grant opportunities, micro-transit options, and general clean mobility education.
- Collaborate with UCP-CDC and the City of San Diego to leverage existing data and resources.
- Facilitate an interactive workshop with a resident-led Transportation Action Team to gather community input on viable EVC site maps.
Deliverables
- Produce a detailed assessment of current EVC infrastructure and community EV knowledge.
- Develop and present a map of viable EVC sites.
- Compile and share a comprehensive list of EV incentives and clean mobility resources.
What you need to bring to this role…
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record as determined by our insurance carrier.
- Able to commit to the full 9 months and complete 800 hours of work during that time.
- Strong computer skills (MS Office, especially excel, databases, Gmail/Google apps a plus)
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and ability to relate and work with diverse populations and GRID Staff.
- Self-starter and highly reliable, accountable, detailed oriented and ability to work independently.
- Strong teamwork, organizational, multi-tasking, and decision-making skills.
- Passion for GRID’s mission related to renewable energy, community development, green jobs, and/or helping families and communities in need.
- May require you to work in the early mornings, some late evenings, as well as some travel throughout San Diego County.
- Assist the Clean Mobility team in other administrative work as needed.
It would be great if you also had…
- Previous experience with GRID Alternatives.
- Experience in customer service and/or community engagement.
- Bilingual in Spanish and English.
- Reside within, or around, the Chollas View, Lincoln Park & Emerald Hills neighborhoods.
Where you will sit and the places you may go…
This is an in-person position based at the San Diego GRID office, it will require travel from our office to the assessment sites in the nearby neighborhoods.
GRID Alternatives may provide vehicles for work travel and/or travel reimbursement for personal vehicle use.
