JOB SUMMARY: These positions are located in the Visitor and Resource Protection Division. Career-Seasonal appointments are permanent positions and include the same benefits as Career appointments, but do not provide work on a year-round basis. This position has two seasons; winter and summer, and you will be in a non-pay status during the spring and autumn. This position is expected to be in non pay status from approximately November 9 to December 6, and from March 23 to May 3rd. MAJOR DUTIES: These positions will perform the full range of supervisory duties for a team of permanent and temporary seasonal recreation fee technicians and clerks which includes: Collect appropriate fees at entrance station in accordance with accountability guidelines; determine visitor eligibility for the sale of various park passes. Maintain accountable stock. Serve as a front-line uniformed representative of the park. Provide current and accurate information and excellent customer service to visitors concerning the park and surrounding areas. Operate equipment (e.g., point of sale systems, electronic cash register, credit card machine, and/or computer) to collect fees and track various forms of payment (e.g., cash, credit cards, checks, etc.). Prepare reports including remittance reports, shift reports, and visitor use statistics. South Area Information: This position is located at the South Entrance to Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming, elevation 6900 feet, 97 miles south of park headquarters. Temperatures vary from an average of 70 degrees Fahrenheit in the summer to sub-zero in the winter. Temperatures of -20 degrees Fahrenheit are not uncommon in winter. The South Entrance is a Yellowstone interior duty location. The road to this location is not plowed after the first weekend in November, and the location is only reachable by snowmobile or snow coach November through April. A pool of snowmobiles for personal use is available on a reservation system. The US Mail is delivered approximately twice a week in the winter. A post office, a general store, and a service station are available at Grant Village in the summer, generally from mid-May to mid-September. Medical clinics are available during the summer at Old Faithful, Lake Village, and Mammoth Hot Springs. Many community services are available at Jackson, Wyoming, 64 miles driving distance to the south. Schools are available outside the park. Many community services are available at Cody, Wyoming, 120 miles driving distance to the east.
