Job Description:
Maryland Environmental Service has an opening for a Senior Environmental Specialist or Senior Environmental Specialist II at the Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI) Field Office. Project management responsibilities include environmental planning, monitoring, compliance reporting, client interaction, and managing personnel in support of Airport environmental and maintenance projects and facilities. Field work includes sanitary, stormwater and tank compliance inspections, maintenance, and reporting. This is a designated emergency essential facility requiring the ability to work during nights, weekends, or adverse weather conditions as emergencies may require.
Estimated Pay Range:
$53,131.16 - $80,361.47

Minimum Requirements:
Senior Environmental Specialist - Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, engineering, biology, chemistry, geology or a related field from an accredited college or university, plus 3 years of experience in environmental science or a related field. One year of experience must have included responsibility managing environmental projects and providing leadership to other professional and technical staff. An applicable advanced education degree may be substituted for up to two years of experience.
Senior Environmental Specialist II – Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, engineering, biology, chemistry, geology or a related field from an accredited college or university, plus 4 years of experience in environmental science or a related field. One year of experience must have included responsibility managing environmental projects and providing leadership to other professional and technical staff. An applicable advanced education degree may be substituted for up to two years of experience.
Must have a valid driver’s license with less than 5 points. Must have the ability to lift 50 pounds. Must be computer literate, specifically with respect to spreadsheets and word processing. Must be able to obtain Homeland Security Clearance. Experience with airport deicing operations and storage tank inspections and compliance is preferred, but not required.
Preferred skills for this position include strong leadership, verbal, technical writing and planning skills.
