DescriptionThe Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Director oversees organizational compliance with local, state, and federal environmental, health, and safety regulations. This individual will be responsible for managing EHS programs, Managers, and Coordinators. Being an Environmental Health, and Safety Director ensures compliance with all environmental, health, and safety regulations, and keeps abreast of any changes to law and regulations that impact the organization.
Full time
Pay is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
$70,000 to $98,000 annually
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with OSHA compliance and requirements.
- At least 5 years of experience in Environmental Health & Safety management and/or equivalent education or combination of both.
- Obtained Occupational Health & Safety Professional 132 Certification
- Safety Management Specialist or Certified Safety Professional certifications
- Ability to manage AFW’s environmental, health and safety programs at the project level, driving a safety-oriented approach to work
- Excellent organizational and motivational skills
- Outstanding attention to detail and observation ability
- 25% Travel
- Flexible schedule to meet training, development or project deadline requirements
Job Duties:
- Champion and lead AFW’s safety culture and initiatives
- Maintain and cultivate positive working relationships with the AFW leaders and employees
- Maintain liaisons with outside organizations, such as fire departments, mutual aid societies, and rescue teams,
- Investigate industrial accidents, injuries, or occupational diseases to determine causes and preventive measures.
- Interpret safety regulations for others interested in industrial safety, such as safety engineers, labor representatives, and safety inspectors.
- Routinely inspect the facilities, machinery, and safety equipment to identify and correct potential hazards, and to ensure safety regulation compliance
- Conduct or coordinate worker training in areas such as safety laws and regulations, hazardous condition monitoring, and use of safety equipment.
- Provide technical advice and guidance to organizations on how to handle health-related problems and make needed changes.
- Recommend solutions to issues, improvement opportunities or preventative measures
- Emergency planning
- Report on health/safety awareness, concerns, and statistics
- Monitor compliance and effectiveness of safety programs
- Oversee and lead a multi-level hierarchy of managers and employees across Arizona, Texas, and Colorado
Physical Requirements:
Requires the ability to maneuver in confined and at times congested areas
Requires the ability to stand, walk, stoop, & bend for 8 hours or more daily
Requires constant use of arms, hands, fingers, eyes, legs, and back
Conducting training or an investigation that involves lifting, griping, bending, kneeling, stooping and moving equipment or merchandise
