Job Title: Energy, Environmental & Natural Resources Associate

About the Role
Our client is seeking an associate attorney with 2-5 years of experience to join their growing Energy, Environmental, and Natural Resources Practice Group, with a primary focus on energy regulatory and renewable energy matters. This role is based in the firm’s Chicago office and offers a dynamic opportunity to work on a range of complex regulatory and energy-related issues.
Responsibilities
- Represent clients in state regulatory proceedings, including traditional and non-traditional rate cases, investigations, rulemakings, and compliance matters.
- Assist with obtaining regulatory approvals for retail energy supply and renewable energy projects.
- Support clients with solar incentive programs, power purchase agreements (PPAs), community solar contracting, and retail energy supply contracts.
- Conduct legal research and draft memoranda, pleadings, and other documents related to energy and environmental matters.
- Collaborate with colleagues in a team-oriented environment to provide exceptional client service.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- 2-5 years of experience in energy regulatory or related legal work.
- Experience in state regulatory proceedings, such as rate cases, investigations, and rulemakings.
- Familiarity with renewable energy programs, PPAs, community solar, or retail energy contracts is a plus.
- Excellent research, writing, and analytical skills.
- Strong academic achievement.
- Enthusiasm for client service, teamwork, and professional growth.
