About the team
Post acquisition, the BBPOS team is now an extension of the Stripe Terminal team. Stripe Terminal helps Stripe users extend their online presence into the physical world. The Terminal team’s mission is to make it as easy for businesses to accept in-person payments as the Stripe API has done for online payments. With Terminal, businesses can unlock in-person payments use cases that are right for their business model—whether it’s creating a flagship retail experience, extending their website to a pop-up store, or enabling a mobile point-of-sale at their next event.

What we are looking for
The Supplier Quality Engineer will be in charge of the Battery process/quality control.
- In-depth knowledge in battery specifications and applications. Able to review POS electronic design to meet battery specifications.
- In-depth knowledge in battery performance evaluation and testing.
- Understand all different kinds of battery failure mode, failure analysis, root causes and corrective actions.
- Experience developing process quality plans, supplier quality audits, and driving corrective actions and failure analysis efforts.
- Working knowledge of Battery quality and reliability concepts, supplier management, and general manufacturing operations.
- Familiar with Battery cell and pack function, inspection and test coverage
- Experience with the development and evaluation of measurement systems.
- Project management experience and an understanding of problem solving tools including design of experiments, root cause analysis and statistical analytical tools.
- Familiar with mechanical drawing review and identify critical to quality, integration and functions.
What you will do
- Review Battery datasheet and how battery is used in POS reader design to ensure the battery is correctly selected, used in the product for long term performance.
- Work with EE and software team to ensure battery power management circuit and ROM alrightism is correct.
- Work with supplier and BBPOS reliability team to design battery long performance evaluation plan and evaluate battery long term performance.
- Work with the Product team to understand customer use cases and design battery test plan to ensure battery spec is met.
- Develop and implement process quality plans to ensure product quality standards are met.
- Conduct supplier quality audits to assess compliance with quality requirements and drive corrective actions as necessary.
- Lead failure analysis efforts to identify root causes of quality issues and implement effective corrective actions.
- Apply working knowledge of battery quality and reliability concepts, including supplier management and general manufacturing operations.
- Oversee the functionality and test coverage of battery at battery suppliers.
- Analyze battery failure modes and develop preventive actions to mitigate risks.
- Develop and evaluate measurement systems to ensure accurate assessment of product quality.
- Manage projects effectively, utilizing problem-solving tools such as design of experiments, root cause analysis, and statistical analysis.
- Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to align quality objectives with overall project goals.
Minimum Requirement
- 5+ years Supply Chain, Quality and/or Technical experience in a manufacturing environment in battery pack design and manufacturing suppliers.
- Engineering or Technical degree (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics) or equivalent technical experience.
- Excellent English communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Working knowledge of Quality systems and processes.
- Fluent computer skills.
- Travel (up to 80%) to suppliers and other manufacturing locations domestically as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with and knowledge of Battery and their manufacturing processes.
- Strong background in applying statistical tools for product and process development and control (i.e. Gage R&R, Process Capability, Control Plans, SPC, Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA) and Design of Experiments (DOE).
- Skilled and experienced with reading and understanding engineering drawings, dimensions, and tolerances. Basic understanding of GD&T.
- Experienced with PPAP and problem solving tools and techniques (SCAR, 8-D, 5 Whys, 7 Ways, Fishbone, Pareto, and Six Sigma).
- Demonstrated ability to simplify complex information and prepare concise executive summaries.
- Lean experience or Six Sigma Certification.
