Duties
Career-Seasonal appointments are permanent positions and include the same benefits as Career appointments, but do not provide work on a year-round basis. You will work from approximately March - January, and you will be in a non-pay status for the remainder of the year.
Major Duties:
- Plans, develops, implements, and evaluates the park-wide volunteer program including the assessment of needs, recruitment, training, placement, monitoring, safety, overall program evaluation and parkwide recognition.
- Serves as the primary contact and liaison for potential and current volunteers and volunteer groups and responsible for developing and maintaining new volunteer partnerships in support of the parks.
- Plans, develops, and organizes special volunteer project activities/events and coordinates logistical and administrative elements associated with such projects/events. Coordinates large scale volunteer activities such as quarterly parkwide volunteer days.
- Works with park staff to identify and plan new volunteer opportunities and initiatives.
- Responsible for monitoring, tracking and reporting on volunteer hours and volunteer program budget.

To qualify for this position at the GS-07 grade level, you must possess at least one of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement:
EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service.
EDUCATION: Successful completion of at least 1 full year of graduate level education.
Superior Academic Achievement: Superior academic achievement (SAA) requirements are based on class standing, grade-point average, or honor society membership.

To qualify based on education, you must submit a legible copy of transcripts from an accredited institution with your name, school name, credit hours, course level, major(s), and grade-point average or class ranking.
Additional information
A selectee receiving a first appointment to the Federal Government (Civil Service) is entitled only to the lowest step of the grade for which selected.
