This position is responsible for assisting the Regional Fleet Manager in the overall management of fleet program within the Region. The position serves as acting Regional Fleet Manager in their absence.

Overview
Duties
- Provide technical expertise and advice to the Regional Fleet Manager to provide solutions to program problems and issues.
- Develop vehicle specifications for specialized equipment requests, such as Fire, Law Enforcement and heavy equipment.
- Provide input for long term fleet plans and complex fleet program proposals.
- Assist in developing plans and procedures for managing the fleet program, such as cost studies, budget requirements and other planning activities for both Regional and Unit level activities.
- Provide advice and guidance on alternatives in fleet composition (types of vehicles and equipment) fleet sources (Forest Service, GSA, project, commercial rental) and energy efficiency (gasoline, diesel, LPF, electric vehicle size, etc.)
- Make recommendations to managers on vehicles and equipment replacement needs based upon maintenance costs, age, use, condition and the needs of the project.

- Must be a U.S. Citizen or National.

- Successful completion of one year probationary period, unless previously served.
- Per Public Law 104-134 all Federal employees are required to have federal payments made by direct deposit to their financial institution.

There is no substitution of education for specialized experience.
Additional information
This position may be eligible to telework up to four days per week, based upon the duties of the position. This position may also be eligible for flexible work arrangements as determined by agency policy and any applicable collective bargaining agreements.
