Overview
Summary
Lead others in the use of chainsaws and brush saws, axes, drawknives, adzes, wood chisels, and peavies to clear trails. Uses and maintains tools associated with the carpentry trade such as chainsaws, hand saws, power circular saws, jig saws, power and hand drills, generators, chisels and hand tools.
Duties
- Lead others in the use of chainsaws and brush saws, axes, drawknives, adzes, wood chisels, and peavies to clear trails.
- Uses and maintains tools associated with dry masonry trade such as single and double jacks, rock bars, line levels, string lines, tape measures, pionjar and other rock drills, rock breakers (gas jackhammer) plugs, feathers, chisels, cement mixers and trowels.
- Lead and instruct others in the proper maintenance and repair of rigging equipment and recognizing unsafe equipment.
- Understands strengths, capabilities and working load limits of equipment and materials used in rigging operations including wire ropes, synthetic ropes, grip hoists, anchor systems, wire rope clips, knots, shackles and hooks, blocks and wire rope grips.
- Use a chainsaw to fell hazard trees and remove trees from trails.

- U.S. Citizenship required.
- Appointment subject to background investigation and favorable adjudication.
- Meet Selective Service Registration Act requirement for males.
- Selectee will be required to participate in the Direct Deposit Electronics Funds Transfer Program.
- You will be required to operate a government (or private) motor vehicle as part of your official duties; a valid driver's license is required.
- You will be required to wear a uniform and comply with the National Park Service uniform standards. A uniform allowance will be provided.
- You may be required to travel overnight away from home up to 14 nights per month.
- Applicants must be at least (1) 18 years old or (2) at least 16 years old and have graduated from high school or been awarded a certificate equivalent to graduating from high school.
