DescriptionThe Project Engineer - Renewable Development provides technical work in the planning, designing, procurement and construction of renewable energy development opportunities and projects. The engineer may participate in the direction of work for contractors and field personnel.
Responsibilities
- Provide engineering services for the planning, design and construction of renewable energy development due diligence and projects, including reliability analysis and forecasting metrics.
- Provide engineering services for renewable energy performance evaluations; optimize resource use and maximize reliable power generation and revenue
- Provide technical project management for certain phases of a project including scheduling, design, estimates, engineering specifications, drawings, materials procurement, construction contracts, cost tracking and project cost projections.
- Prepare oral and written reports.
- Provide engineering assistance to other departments.
- Attend training in designated areas.
- Demonstrate technical knowledge of renewable energy technologies and opportunities.
- Demonstrate teamwork skills to negotiate with and influence peers and senior officers on policy and operational issues.
- Proficient knowledge of the utility industry, applicable company policies, procedures, practices, and understanding of applicable federal, state and local laws.
- Must have ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
- Perform responsibilities as directed within determined time frames and with a high degree of accuracy.
- Maintain the professional competence, knowledge, and skills necessary to effectively complete responsibilities; enhance job knowledge and abilities by taking personal responsibility for professional development and training.
- Maintain sensitive and confidential information regarding company information.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited institution; preference for civil and electrical engineering disciplines.
- 5 years of industry experience as a practicing engineer, if no PE license then must have 8+ years as a practicing engineer.
- Experience in control systems, solar, BESS, substation, electric transmission, power generation or renewable energy preferred.
- High level of technical knowledge, judgment and capability in the engineering discipline.
- Broad analytical skills. Advanced project management skills. Effective analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills. The ability to work effectively with people of different backgrounds.
- Excellent analytical and evaluation skills to define critical tasks and establish optimum sequence of events and identify required resources.
- Problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt solutions to specific project requirements.
