DESCRIPTION OF WORK
In this role, you will engage with both the State Act 108 and Federal Superfund initiatives. You will act as the state-specific project officer at Superfund sites, delivering testimony for the department in front of District Magistrates, environmental hearing boards, and various courts at the county, state, and federal levels concerning your assigned sites and responsibilities. Your duties will include reviewing and providing feedback on draft design documents, work plans, remedial investigation reports, feasibility studies, and other technical materials.
Additionally, you will serve as a liaison and support for legal personnel and other program staff in matters related to cost recovery and other legal proceedings at hazardous waste sites. You will conduct evaluations of the program and prepare reports assessing its effectiveness, along with recommendations for enhancements. Furthermore, you will oversee and manage contractors engaged by the department to carry out remedial planning, design, and construction at designated state hazardous waste sites.

- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 3 days a week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Wilkes-Barre.
- Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $58,035.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year of experience as a journey-level specialist in a waste management program; or
- Two years of experience in environmental protection and a bachelor's degree with major course work in biology, chemistry, or in a field closely related to environmental protection. A master's degree with major course work in any of the fields closely related to environmental protection may be substituted for one year of the required experience; or
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training which affords the applicant the required knowledges and abilities.
Special Requirements:- This position requires possession of a valid motor vehicle operator's license as issued by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
