About the Internship
TheEnvironmental Design groupisresponsibleforEnvironmentalcomplianceofFederal,StateandLocalregulationsforallAgencyconstructionprojectsandfacilityoperations.Types of projects includesubsurfaceinvestigations,remediationofcontaminatedsites,preparation ofdesigncontractdocumentsforconstructionprojects,acquisition ofenvironmentalpermitsandmonitoringcomplianceoffacilityoperations.Ourgoalistoprovidecosteffective,safe,andappropriateengineeredsolutionsforallPortAuthorityprojects.
Responsibilities:
- Attend progress meetings and site visits
- Prepare design and contract documents
- Assist with submittal reviews, auditing, and other tasks as needed.
- Performfieldworktogatherdata related to permit compliance or other regulatory required programs.
- Completefieldinspections usingourstandardchecklists and communicate the results and outcomes of the inspections and any corrective actions.
- AssistinthepreparationofRegulatoryreportsand plans related to stormwater discharges, underground and aboveground tank storage tanks, air emissions, hazardous and non-hazardous waste generation, remediation forms, and other areas as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate program through the Fall 2025 semester
- Major in Environmental Engineering or Civil Engineering
Desired Qualifications:
- At least one (1) undergraduate level course in Environmental Engineering.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Teams, and Word.

Compensation & Benefits
- The hourly rate range is $17.63 to $29.57 (the exact rate will be determined by internship type and rising school year)
