Principal Level Environmental Practice Lead
GZA is seeking a talented Senior Environmental Practitioner to assist in expanding our environmental site investigation, remediation, and compliance practices in our growing Lansdale, Pennsylvania office. This is a Principal-level or Senior Consultant position in the firm and an opportunity for the right individual to build upon GZA’s national reputation in environmental investigation and remediation by growing its southeastern Pennsylvania-based practice that augments an existing practice; plus, other consulting services already being offered locally. The individual can also draw upon our national team of practitioners to enhance what is offered in the Region. We are seeking an individual who has an existing strong reputation in the greater Philadelphia marketplace and a network of client relationships on which to grow the local practice.
The position requires the individual to represent GZA in client interactions from proposal development, contracting and project performance phases and to be responsible for day-to-day execution of technical, risk-management and financial aspects of each project. The growth aspect of this role will involve working with GZA’s core service leaders, and corporate marketing and communications team to continue to grow the practice and expand on GZA’s geotechnical services within the local market. The role will require strategic planning activities and professional networking, and the hiring, development and mentoring of staff. The candidate should be self-motivated, well organized, detail oriented, quality focused, safety-minded, and must be able to multi-task. Principal-level positions include an ownership position within the firm while Senior Consultant positions have ownership opportunities with the firm and the potential for advancement to the principal level based on performance.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Leading business development activities with support and assistance form colleagues and GZA corporate marketing and communications team
- Internal and client written/verbal communications
- Managing project teams, delegating to office and field staff and executing day to day activities of environmental projects
- Monitoring team performance for compliance with contractual agreements and budgets
- Preparing proposals and reviewing/writing environmental reports and obtaining internal technical QA/QC reviews
- Staff interviewing/hiring, training, mentoring and staff performance evaluation
- Managing project contractual and financial issues (including terms of agreement, changes in scope, billing process, risk management and loss prevention practices)
- Conducting/reviewing technical analyses/calculations
- Participating in meetings and agency consultation
- Additional job-related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- BS degree in Environmental or Civil Engineering, Geology, Chemistry, or other environmental-related degree (Advanced Degree Preferred)
- Licensed Professional Engineer or Geologist, and/or Licensed Site Remediation Professional (LSRP)
- 15+ years of relevant environmental consulting experience, at least five of which are in the southeast Pennsylvania marketplace providing value to clients
- Experience with the development, design, preparation, and management of environmental investigation, compliance, and remediation projects
- Chlorinated hydrocarbon and emerging contaminant investigation / remediation and litigation support experience a plus
- Construction bid specification experience a plus
- Experience working on industrial compliance and permitting projects a plus
- Self-starter, able to complete tasks with minimal supervision and direction
- Demonstrate professional judgment, consistency, strong attention to detail, and background of high-quality work products
- Demonstrated performance of independent analysis, problem solving and strong organizational skills
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Seller-doer aptitude with industry knowledge
- Experience preparing well written reports within budget that demonstrate technical knowledge
- Strong interest in safety
- Experience in successfully advocating and/or negotiating with regulatory agencies and third parties in favor of client positions
- Possess or have completed 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER training
