Examples of Work
First-level Professional position accountable for working under the supervision of higher level professional to perform limited assignments of specific tasks focused on maintaining compliance and providing technical support to problem resolution. At this level, employees collect environmental data (e.g., water, waste water, soil, and air samples) and interpret lab results and perform basic statistical analysis of data to determine compliance with rules and regulations; investigate routine complaints of noncompliance; conduct preliminary review and evaluation of permit applications; and assist in preparing technical reports and documentation. Employees must have knowledge of the basic principles within environmental/physical science, energy efficiency, or engineering; ability to conduct routine and standardized inspections with minor environmental impact (e.g., open burning) and which are guided by established standards and procedures; and ability to identify potential problem areas and contribute to developing solutions. Employees in this family have significant public interaction.
Minimum Qualifications
Typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree and 0-2 years of experience.
