The Pennsylvania Game Commission is looking for a one year limited term, Environmental Education Specialist to work in our Southwest Region. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
As an Environmental Education Specialist, you will be completing fieldwork under the supervision of the Southwest Region Information and Education Supervisor. You will be responsible for representing the PA Game Commission (PGC) at wildlife centric programs as well as conducting and assisting with pre-service and in-service training programs for schools and post-secondary institutions on a variety of topics. Subjects may include Project Wild, Growing Up Wild, PA Songbirds, PA Biodiversity, Project Learning Tree, Wildlife Forensics, and various species-specific programs such as Wild About Elk, Turkey, and Deer. You will have the opportunity to interact with the public and other interested parties by providing information and answering inquiries related to wildlife conservation and PGC programs. Additional work includes assisting with:
- Developing and conducting educational and other programs
- The Junior Game Warden Camp in the region
- Developing education materials for events and visitor center information
- Volunteer programs and recruiting volunteers
- The Southwest Region Facebook and social media pages
- Regional marketing, outreach, and communication
- The Southwest Information and Education Supervisor (IES) and State Game Wardens with region Hunter and Trapper Educational needs

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Limited term (one year), full-time employment, 40 hours per week
- Work hours are 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Occasional weekend work may be required.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- A bachelor's degree in environmental education, education, the natural sciences, social sciences, or parks and recreation; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
- Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
Conditions of Employment:
- Willingness to work weekends and evenings.
- Willingness to wear a prescribed uniform.

Legal Requirements:
- This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
