Job Summary
Manages various environmental programs and projects on behalf of NYSEG and RG&E with objectives of timely and cost-effective completion. Special emphasis on environmental licensing and permitting.
Key Responsibilities
- Provides direction and leadership on various aspects of environmental licensing and permitting for capital and O & M projects for gas and electric operations in NY.
- Coordinates and oversees environmental regulatory requirements on behalf of Capital Delivery Project Managers as well as Maintenance Engineers.
- Develops / delegates preparation of required environmental permits, design, execution and close out.
- Prepares plans and budgets for environmental licensing and permitting.
- Manages contractors for on-time, on-budget delivery of products and services.
- Verifies contractors’ deliverables.
- Ensures contractors resources within the project.
- Manages projects to approved scope, schedule, and budget. Manages progress against plans and take corrective action to offset variances. Reports to management on progress status.
- Coordinating environmental licensing and permits for NY capital project ties directly to meeting the corporate objective for capital investment.
- Verify project adherence to federal, state and local environmental regulatory requirements.
- Leads cross-functional project teams. Holds and participates in regular program/project status meetings.
- Represents the company at public or regulatory meetings.
- Reviews and comments on proposed laws and regulations as they apply to company operations.
- Manages or oversees implementation and inspection of stormwater management plans, wildlife management plans, and other regulatory requirements of permits which extend beyond construction phase of project.
- Escalate issues when necessary.
Required Qualifications
- Associate’s degree required in Environmental or related field.
- Bachelor’s Degree is preferred.
- A minimum of 3 years of program/project management experience in a directly related field.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience with related federal and state environmental regulatory policies and business practices and procedures.
- Knowledge of system design, construction, and maintenance practices for both gas and electric operations.
- Experience in leading teams.
- Microsoft Suite.
Preferred Qualifications
- P.E. (Professional Engineer) or CPESC (Certified Professional in Erosion and Sediment Control).
