JOB SUMMARY: This position is in Region 8, Water Division, Clean Water Branch, Watershed Section. About Region 8. This is an office-centered position--you must physically report to the duty station stated in this announcement on a regular basis. MAJOR DUTIES: You will: Provide highly specialized, expert review and evaluation of actions involving discharges of dredged or fill material into the aquatic environment pursuant to the CWA 404(b)(1) Guidelines and National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). Provide regulatory technical assistance on CWA Section 401 program implementation and take appropriate action on requests for water quality certifications where states and Tribes lack authority to give such certification. Provides expert level of knowledge to states, tribes and other federal agencies in development of wetland and aquatic resources protection and mitigation/restoration scientific approaches and policy. Work with state, Tribal and local stakeholders to build capacity for wetland and aquatic resource protection and restoration You will spend less than 25% of your work time on contracts, grants/cooperative agreements, and/or interagency agreements.
