Description
- Independently determines project scope, develops a preliminary plan of investigation, and determines project specifications such as cost, time, and sample requirements by analyzing client input, available supplemental data, and product construction.
- Initiates communication with clients to promote and explain the benefits of new and existing services.
- Follows up on contacts from clients.
- Communicates with clients to discuss technical issues, explain UL procedures and requirements, convey project cost, and negotiate completion date and sample requirements.
- Acts to address client concerns and to resolve client issues.
- Provides technical assistance to clients in reference to product inspection and follow-up services.
- Notifies client of any areas in which the product is not in compliance with UL requirements or of any changes in project scope or specifications.
- Coordinates administrative aspects of project management.
- Serves as Project Handler of record and may sign as Reviewer of record as assigned.
- Communicates project status and results to clients through frequent contact and by preparing reports.
- Integrates continuous improvement concepts and techniques into all aspects of the job.
- Resolves engineering issues associated with Variation Notices by analyzing and reporting on the acceptability of the variations.
- Proposes development of new and/or revised UL requirements.
- May represent UL at industry related functions such as seminars and trade shows.
- May directs and review work of assigned staff.
- Read and follow the Underwriters Laboratories Code of Conduct and follow all physical and digital security practices.
- Performs other duties as directed.
Responsibilities• Manage the implementation of small to medium projects for wind turbine component and type certification
• Provide overall leadership and support to project team members
• Act as front-line contact on project-related activities, issues, and risks for key customer accounts
• Manage the project risks and issues and escalate accordingly
• Plan the overall project and monitor the progress, and perform daily project management throughout the project’s life cycle
• Manage the project’s and region budget and financial performance
• Maximize the opportunities closure within the region by searching and negotiating with different stakeholders
• Drive action plans to meet and exceed customer expectations
• Manage and utilize team resources
• Align the deliverables to the project’s “outcome”
• Developing new clients (or areas of service) and growth of existing accounts
• Main focal point for NIWE and wind turbine RLMM listing

Qualifications• University Degree in Engineering in any discipline.
• Strong project management and team leadership skills. 3-5 years with depth understanding of project management concepts.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with sponsor reporting and escalation experience. Ability to clearly communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Strong facilitation, collaboration, negotiation, and presentation skills.
• Ability to anticipate risks and devise solutions in the moment.
• Focused and versatile team player who is comfortable under pressure, ambiguity, frequent change, or unpredictability.
• Excellent organized planner with forecasting skills. Customer and problem-solving oriented culture
• Commercial background to identify and close business opportunities.
• Experience in certification of product according to IEC 61400-x normative and in wind turbine design and development is desirable.
• Detailed knowledge of the technical vocabulary common to the appropriate discipline.
• Working knowledge of conformity standards in use in area of expertise.
• Demonstrated ability to apply project-handling concepts in use in area of expertise.
