We are one of Australia’s largest and most experienced carbon farming project developers. This includes more than 160 projects with farmers, plantation managers, agribusiness, and Indigenous groups on carbon farming projects.
Climate Friendly has delivered over 20Mt in carbon abatement as at the end of 2020. The role
As Carbon Abatement Officer you will work as part of our spatial products team with a focus on carbon abatement modelling and forecasting across all Climate Friendlies carbon farming project methodologies. Key responsibilities include:
- Assessing maps, spatial data, and other spatial outputs required to produce abatement models
- Liaising with our spatial team on mapping and spatial data information to ensure its accuracy and reliability relevant to abatement modelling
- Inputting data into abatement forecast spreadsheet templates in Microsoft Excel for core methodologies (HIR, Plantation, Environmental Plantings, Avoided Deforestation)
- Modelling project areas / CEAs, and using CER approved software across all methodologies
- Creating ACCU forecasts using CER approved software for none core methodologies (Savannah Burning)
- Reconciling ACCU forecasts between spreadsheets to ensure data accuracy.
- Providing information on abatement forecasts to our reporting team where it is then added in to reporting documentation
- Maintaining and improving abatement spreadsheet templates and calculators as required.
- Monitoring approved external software (such as RMT) performance and reliability relative to ACCU forecasting.
- Liaising with internal teams to report on issues with external software performance.
- Efficiently monitors and updates task status', ensures timely completion, and updates relevant teams using company task management software.
- Maintains accountability and actively participates in team communication and meetings.
- Regularly updates Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and provides training when necessary and required.
About you
- Analytical problem-solving, attention to detail, and effective communication.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including the ability to work with complex spreadsheet templates, perform data reconciliation, and maintain accuracy.
- Proficiency in using company task / project management software such as Asana to monitor and update task statuses and ensure timely completion.
- Strong ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks efficiently
- High sense of personal responsibility for delivering accurate outputs and meeting deadlines.
- The ability to analyse complex data and identify potential errors or improvements.
- Working knowledge and understanding of the Australian Carbon Credit Unit Schemes and methodology may be advantageous
